One of the women in the vehicle hit by Prince Philip in a car crash is speaking out about the incident.

Philip, 97, walked away uninjured after overturning his Land Rover following a collision with a Kia near the royal family’s country estate in Norfolk on Thursday, while 46-year-old Emma Fairweather, who was sitting in the passenger seat, broke her wrist. Additionally, the driver, a 28-year-old woman, suffered cuts to her knee. Her 9-month-old baby, who was in the backseat, was uninjured.

In an interview with the Sunday Mirror, Fairweather said she was disappointed with the royal family because she had yet to receive an apology from Philip.

“I’m lucky to be alive and he hasn’t even said sorry,” Fairweather told the outlet.

Probably thanks to the vehicle he was driving.

I wouldn’t be too sure about the security guy, especially if Philip was not supposed to be behind the wheel.

He didn’t yield at the sign when pulling out of a side street onto the main road and plowed into the women and baby. Totally his fault. He claimed the sun dazzled him. Somehow, he wasn’t injured. Of course, they delivered him a new fancy Land Rover immediately.

Peasants ran to pull him out of his big fancy Land Rover and didn’t know it was him until they got him out through the roof. No seatbelt and no security.

The Royals either need to have a minder on him 24/7 and/or ensure he can’t operate any of their vehicles.

I wonder if he has a current license. The queen gets a pass, but Philip better have one. Though if he does, he needs to be hauled in for a road test

Called LR2 here

As someone who’s owned 7 Land Rover products

Except for the old Series models don’t buy anything without a lot of warranty left

My wife was talking about how he should stop driving. i said "he won't. He's a danger on the road but that's only a problem for the peasants. The royals don't give a damn about their safety at an individual level. The only way he stops is if he begins to embarrass the royal family, because they DO care about that."

All he needed to do was call and equire about her well being and that would have been taken as concern, as good as an apology. But he's above that, far too arrogant for such a display of empathy. So now it might make it's way to an embarrassment. Then the queen will quietly ban him from driving, but only if that happens.

The Prince’s driving privileges are intact as of right now. He’s already been seen driving the replacement Freelander alone

One report about the accident mentioned a security guy, and another mentioned a vehicle with security following him. Security arrangements probably aren’t going to be confirmed one way or the other.

So, he pulled out, and she hit him, and hard enough to overturn a Land Rover? Thanks jjotto.

Just because he’s driving doesn’t mean he’s got a license. Or that, if he does, he should. He needs to be hauled in for a road test.

“The Land Rover Freelander was a compact sport utility vehicle which was produced by the British manufacturer Land Rover, in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive versions, from 1997 to 2014. The second generation, launched in 2007, was marketed as the LR2 in North America and as the Freelander 2 in Europe. More at “Wikipedia””

Her 9-month-old baby, who was in the backseat, was uninjured.

No thanks to the royal consort. He and his wife really need to give up the keys and let the chauffeurs take care of the driving.

Yep.

Last generation LR2. No longer available after the 2015 model year. Actually, there’s doubt about what vehicle the crashed one was replaced with:

Always heard the Prince has an independent streak a mile wide. Often a good thing, in this case, it caused a big problem, that could have become a tragedy. One of the hardest things a family member has to do, is take away Gramps’ car keys. It often signals an end to independence. Of course, most old folks don’t have access to chauffeurs...

He is licensed to drive, according to the reports. That’s being looked into right now.
