OPINION: Why Does Trump’s Nominee For Attorney General Support Gun Confiscation Orders?
The Daily Caller ^ | 19 January 2019 | Erich Pratt

Posted on 01/20/2019 2:49:01 AM PST by zeestephen

Barr told Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Tuesday that his top gun priority will be gun confiscation orders: "I also think we need to push along the ERPOs [or Gun Confiscation Orders], so we have red flag laws to supplement the use of the background check....This is the single most important thing I think we can do in the gun control area to stop these massacres from happening in the first place."

Anyone who says an Amendment “creates” a right needs to watch their language, not me. Is that what he said, or not?

Illegal aliens have standing, citizens do not. Sure seems that way, no?

The left really, really doesn’t want Barr as AG.

A big clue right there....if the lefties dont want him, that means he's A-OK for us.

WRT gun confiscation: IF he does ty it----BIG IF---Trump will make short work of that.

***the DeConcini amendment [semi-auto ban],***

Hard to believe DeConcini was once very pro-gun.

From..THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS...
97th Congress
2d Session
COMMITTEE PRINT
THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS
————

http://www.constitution.org/2ll/2ndschol/87senrpt.pdf

“The right to bear arms is a tradition with deep roots in American society. Thomas Jefferson
proposed that “no free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms,” and Samuel Adams called for
an amendment banning any law “to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable
citizens from keeping their own arms.” The Constitution of the State of Arizona, for example,
recognizes the “right of an individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself or the State.”
Even though the tradition has deep roots, its application to modern America is the subject
of intense controversy. Indeed, it is a controversy into which the Congress is beginning, once again,
to immerse itself. I have personally been disappointed that so important an issue should have
generally been so thinly researched and so minimally debated both in Congress and the courts. Our
Supreme Court has but once touched on its meaning at the Federal level and that decision, now
nearly a half-century old, is so ambiguous that any school of thought can find some support in it. All
Supreme Court decisions on the second amendment’s application to the States came in the last
century, when constitutional law was far different than it is today. As ranking minority member of
the Subcommittee on the Constitution, I, therefore, welcome the effort which led to this report—a
report based not only upon the independent research of the subcommittee staff, but also upon full
and fair presentation of the cases by all interested groups and individual scholars.
I personally believe that it is necessary for the Congress to amend the Gun Control Act of
1968. I welcome the opportunity to introduce this discussion of how best these amendments might
be made.
The Constitution subcommittee staff has prepared this monograph bringing together
proponents of both sides of the debate over the 1968 Act. I believe that the statements contained
herein present the arguments fairly and thoroughly. I commend Senator Hatch, chairman of the
subcommittee, for having this excellent reference work prepared. I am sure that it will be of great
assistance to the Congress as it debates the second amendment and considers legislation to amend
the Gun Control Act.

DENNIS
DECONCINI
,
Ranking Minority Member,
Subcommittee On the Constitution.

20, 1982.

I suspect Trump is making another yuge mistake and so does my best friend who is an attorney. I honestly don’t get why Trump Continues to let his advisors push these establishment retreads on him.

Another article on this subject. If these reports are true then Barr IMHO is not fit to serve as the top law enforcement officer of the US as he has already made it clear that he can't be impartial regarding the US Constitution and the equal application and fair enforcement of our nations laws.

Did Trump just nominate a gun-grabber for Attorney General?

Gun grabber. Remember Ruby Ridge? Murdering nursing mother Vicki Weaver and her young son? That was on Barr’s watch. And he exonerated the murderer Lon Horiuchi

Precisely. Unrepentant and unapologetic.

You support gun grabbers? You’re on the wrong site. Democrat Underground is for gun grabber supporters.

Ouch, that's bound to leave a bruise.

... Let me know if you need help with the big words...

You're getting a bit obnoxiously snippy. As far as addressing the "big words" why don't you start with this one, from your post #8:
genious

I don’t trust anyone who is a gun grabber. I consider gun grabbers the lowest of the low. The worst of the worst humanity produces.

Anyone who would take another person’s right to self-protection should probably be buried.

He said there is room for resonance restrictions. That basically means you can keep your shotgun and deer rifle. He supported Bush’s assault rifle ban, And the Chinese import ban .He’s another one of these people who says they support the Second Amendment, but always has room for one more “reasonable” regulation. Hell, almost every Democrat says they “support” the Second Amendment.

Define Mentally Ill.

I know one when I see one.

The left sees one when they see me.

let’s get down to the real problem we’re confronting, which is keeping these weapons out of the hands of people who are mentally ill

Is anyone that naive? Please say it ain't so! Crazies will always be able to get weapons even if you tried to take them away from all the law abiding people in America. They will steal or buy them from criminals who will always have guns. Then there are the patriotic Americans who believe in freedom and self-protection who will never give up their firearms. Even in uber leftist New Jersey not one person turned in their over 10 round mags after that law went into effect.

Now if you said crazies should be evaluated when they pop up on the radar, especially many times like the Parkland and Newtown shooters, then we might have something to agree on. I think these crazies are left alone because no one wants to take the responsibility of evaluating them, letting them go back on the street, then they go Postal because the first thing everyone will do is point the finger at the evaluator. At the same time immense pressure will be put on these mental health evaluators to street these people.

Who would want to be in that vise?

I personally believe all leftists belong in an asylum or a communist country; not in America at all which is why they are trying to turn America into a communist country. They cray cray!
