OPINION: Why Does Trump’s Nominee For Attorney General Support Gun Confiscation Orders?
The Daily Caller ^ | 19 January 2019 | Erich Pratt

Barr told Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Tuesday that his top gun priority will be gun confiscation orders: "I also think we need to push along the ERPOs [or Gun Confiscation Orders], so we have red flag laws to supplement the use of the background check....This is the single most important thing I think we can do in the gun control area to stop these massacres from happening in the first place."

In 1991, William Barr made this statement during his confirmation hearing for Attorney General:

"On the assault weapon front, the proposal before us is the DeConcini amendment. And I think....I would support both the Brady Bill waiting period and the DeConcini amendment [semi-auto ban], provided that they were parts of a broader and more comprehensive crime bill that included....very tough provisions on the use of firearms in crimes and illegal purchase and trading in firearms."

Well, obviously he’s not going to say he supports putting traitors who sell US national security information to the Chinese on the gallows.

He said what he needed to. I suspect he will be a good AG, and clean up the mess.

I’ve read some of his earlier stuff on guns. He puts the inherent (Lockian) right to self defense (via arms) ahead of all else. That is key.

The left really, really doesn’t want him as AG.

Trump has had 2 years of stewing on it, the lack of an AG. I think he knows what he’s doing. Very. Stable. Genious.

Well, my take on this is that since Sessions was doing 5-D chess, Barr is going to be doing 7-D chess.

Gun grabber. Remember Ruby Ridge? Murdering nursing mother Vicki Weaver and her young son? That was on Barr’s watch. And he exonerated the murderer Lon Horiuchi

Because under Trump, backdoor gun control will be promoted as necessary to fend off the extreme proposals of the racist, regressive fascists.

Never a strategy that works out well. But what are you gonna do? Gotta dance with the one who brought ya.

You support gun grabbers? You’re on the wrong site. Democrat Underground is for gun grabber supporters.

“You support gun grabbers? You’re on the wrong site. Democrat Underground is for gun grabber supporters.”

Ok, genious:

1. Define “gun grabber.”
2. Prove Barr is one.
3. Show where, anywhere, I “support gun grabbers.”
4. Esad.

How many bills of Feinstein’s do you think would be able to get through the U S Senate? I’ll tell you how many: zero. Don’t you think Barr knows this?

I think and hope he’ll be a good old-school AG. I’m not worrying about individual positions, some past on every little issue.

“Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) asked Barr to update Congress on his view of the Second Amendment.

Barr said that even before the Supreme Court’s 2008 Heller decision, which upheld the individual right to bear arms, he believed that was so.

“I personally concluded that the Second Amendment creates a personal right under the Constitution,” Barr said.

It’s based on the Lockean notion of the right of self-preservation. It’s tied to that. And I was glad that — to see Heller come out and vindicate that initial view that I had. And so there’s no question under Heller that the right to have weapons is — firearms, is protected under the Second Amendment and is a personal right. At the same time, there’s room for reasonable regulation.

And you know, from my standpoint, what I would look for is — in assessing a regulation is, what’s the burden on law-abiding people? And is it proportionate to whatever benefit in terms of safety and effectiveness will be conferred?

As I said just a moment ago, let’s get down to the real problem we’re confronting, which is keeping these weapons out of the hands of people who are mentally ill. And I think all the rest of this stuff is really essentially rhetoric until we really get that problem dealt with, in terms of regulatory approaches.”

I have no problem with that.

Gun confiscation is a federal distraction from approving spending for the wall.

If Trump selected Hilary Clinton as AG the left wouldn’t want her because Trump selected her.

Gun Confiscation Orders have existed before any of us were born.

The difference it those Gun Confiscation Orders required due process of law.

Now what they are trying to normalize is Gun Confiscation Warrants. If this is what he is calling a Gun Confiscation Order he shouldn’t be Attn General.

I can’t get enough detail out of these articles to tell.

They are very vague.

Here is my red line, we have to give illegals due process in a court but we don’t have to give that to gun owners before their rights are violated.

This how thing is upside down and inside out.

Re: “How many bills of Feinstein’s do you think would be able to get through the U S Senate? I’ll tell you how many: zero. Don’t you think Barr knows this?”

In 1991, all eight Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to confirm William Barr as Attorney General.

That was the same gang of Democrats who destroyed Robert Bork, and tried to destroy Clarence Thomas.

But they voted 8-0 for William Barr.

I think William Barr is a center-left RINO who will tenaciously defend the Deep State.

Question for you, Jade....

Can you name even one consequential Conservative in the West Wing or in Trump's Cabinet?

I can't.

2nd Amendment (nor many, if not most of the others) doesn’t “create” any right. It does guarantee an already existing right, in this case the right of self defense. The right of self defense in fact predates our government.

Doesn’t it bother anyone here that Dianne Feinstein was speaking glowingly of Barr the other day?

” The right of self defense in fact predates our government.”

Which I pointed out, to anyone educated enough on Lockean Philosophy. And what Barr said, “It’s based on the Lockean notion of the right of self-preservation. It’s tied to that.”

But ignoramuses aren’t that educated, or they would have recognized it. To all the “Oh Noes! He’s a gun grabber” maroons, read this:

As a start. Let me know if you need help with the big words.
