"It was so fast," she said, when asked how large the otter was. "Maybe like a dog (in terms of size); short legs and very wet."

On Wednesday, the city of Maitland posted flyers, warning visitors to keep their distance, to not feed wildlife and to call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission if they spotted any aggressive otters.

Sounds too larges for an otter. Maybe a 'fisher cat'. They can be quite aggressive...............

Steve Irwin said something like he would rather deal with a 1000lb croc than a 20 lb otter.

Yes, that tail number is real. No longer in service, however.

Canadian Civil Aircraft Register of historic tail numbers.

Is the term ‘Otter’ the same as ‘Cougar’?

Maybe it should be the new term for a bit older and heavier 'Cougar'

South of Orlando, my mother once had a similar experience in the backyard at our home on a lake. Seeing our family’s small dog and an otter chasing each other around a large tree, she intervened and scooped our dog up and out of the way. The otter stopped, looked at her, and then scurried a few feet down to the shore where its two young were waiting. Mercifully, no one got bit.

Small world.

CCAR shows that tail number assigned to a DHC-3 Otter until 1985, and then to a Cessna 208 Caravan until 2012.

I’ve never been in a Otter at all. Spent a few hundred hours in a Twin Otter.

Otters and 185’s seem to be the work horses for most of the bush country pilots flying in Canada. Been doing remote fishing trips in Manitoba and Ontario Canada for close to 40 years now, most of the time we fly out of Pine Dock. You can load allot of gear in a Otter. Take ear plugs because they are noisy!
