Hello fellow FReepers and anti-Microsoft enthusiasts.
Lately I was following a blog here and I followed the instructions of some of where I installed Windows 10 Release 1607, and was able to keep it from updating past that by installing WinAero Tweak. So far so good, after a week it has not updated past that release. Drivers updated just fine and I turned off most of the telemetry items that one can turn off and uninstalled all of the junk software.
But I'm trying to find someway of blocking any lingering telemetry that may be leaking to Microsoft, if possible. I know there is probably no way of doing that completely, but if there is someway of tightening the spicket, sort to speak, I'd like to find it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, hopefully towards something that doesn't take too much wizardry to figure out.
Thanks.
ShadowAce, if this is something you can post on your Windows Ping List, I’d be in your debt. Thanks.
Several years ago I was working from my company on a Boeing project using ACE, the Advanced Collaborative Environment. We were calling up ITAR documents. (International trafficking in arms regulations.) The system kept crashing and we’d be asked by Microsoft to share the information with them. Everybody was just clicking yes and restarting. Then, I read the fine print. Every time we clicked to share information a copy of what we were working on was sent to Microsoft. That was dozens of ITAR drawings. I hustled down to the IT department and reported it. About five minutes later an email went out to stop clicking yes. That data collection by Microsoft could be very dangerous for a company.
Scan this it might help...

dayglored runs the Windows list.
I've spotted the trouble.
The latest update has been horrible. Finally reinstalled Office 365 so I could access XCell & Word . . .
And now I can't get solitaire to play. Reinstalling etc. just does not work. NO way can I get it to work.
I wonder how many exasperated, infuriated customers are triggered into heart attacks by Microslop's absolutely thoroughly stupid errors. Sheesh.
Sigh.
THANKS.
The only way to keep from being assimilated is to run from the Borg. Climbing into their ship and saying “Hey, don’t assimilate me” won’t work.
If you use Windows 10 all your stuff belong to Microsoft ,soon it will be monthly subscription
A simple search for Windows 10 privacy tool came up with hits like:

I accept no responsibility if you screw up your computer.
Buy a deck of cards.
If you don’t want to be spied upon, You’ll need to bite the bullet and switch to Linux, and make sure nothing from Google ever gets near your computer. And, of course, watch for Facebook and it’s tentacles reaching into seemingly innocuous sites. Then your biggest problem will just be your ISP and its open pipeline to the NSA.
Try this utility. I’ve used it for years on Win XP, Win 7 Pro, Win 10 Pro, and Win 10 Enterprise systems.
You may need to update settings each time you let Microsoft install upgrades.

The part you may be missing is finding the setting to send partial dumps, which don’t contain your data, instead of the default full dump. There is a separate control for that. I think it’s in the Backup Restore controls. The second part is the Permissions to send data back to MS, which is easy to find.
Being a Linux pimp is both rude and insensitive.
You think you turned off but like google I bet when you turn off their tracking and then turn it back on, the in between time info shows up.
I use Apache OpenOffice for Windows, but didn't realize there was a similar package for Linux.
I have been in IT for 25+ years, and use Windows 10 for some things at work, but in my current role as a Linux Admin, I have been using Linux as my primary workstation OS, and I have to say that I do not miss Windows.
It can be a challenge to attend meetings with some apps, but with Microsoft Teams, this is no longer an issue.
