New Gillette ad 'We Believe: The Best Men Can Be' has caused firestorm for tackling theme of 'toxic masculinity'
It was directed by Kim Gehrig, an Australian-born and London-based ad director who has previously shot commercials for Uber, Gap and UK's John Lewis
Her ad for feminine hygiene firm Libresse - known as Bodyform in the UK - featured singing female genitals
Other work includes a short film suggesting Australian men turned to bodybuilding because of bullying
Somesuch's previous work includes an unsparing look at periods with the hastag #BloodNormal She has tweeted anti-Trump messages and spoken of her pride about giving female directors 'a fair shot'

The director behind Gillette's controversial new ad is a woman whose past work includes an ode to female genitals and a short film that explores 'toxic masculinity' featuring a protagonist whose life crumbles when he becomes addicted to steroids.
The Gillette ad, called 'We Believe: The Best Men Can Be', takes aim at bullying and sexual harassment and has been viewed more than four million times on YouTube around the world, although it is only being shown fully in the U.S.
But while it has amassed 85,000 likes, it has also racked up 347,000 dislikes with some of the 98,657 comments below accusing it of being 'anti-male and anti-white' and of 'spreading pure propaganda and indoctrination.'
Kim Gehrig, the director of the new ad, is an Australian mother-of-two who lives in London, England, and has a lengthy history of taking aim at social ills through her work.

If you are used to eating Tide pods to clear the palette, I suppose Palmolive would seem a little heady!)
I think his first actions as AG (joining lawsuits against Trump on Obamacare and forcing religious entities to provide contraceptives to employees) signal that he has national politics on the top of his agenda.
Kim Gehrig eh? Thanks for convincing me to seek out better options as I leave multinational corporate owned Gillette.
Seriously.
Wow I didn’t know that
MW used to be my favorite store.
Putting on the shaving cream and thinking about how I can get my son into a fight at the next BBQ, I replaced the worn Gillette brand Mach3 and began to chant "boys will be boys" as I started to shave. Then suddenly my daughter burst into the bathroom holding her phone.
As I began to mansplain to her why she isn't smart enough to know my shaving time is my time she showed me the new Gillette ad. I realized how my every view and behavior I've ever held dear was wrong.
I'm calling in sick at the toxic masculinity factory today and registering Democrat. Thanks Gillette, now excuse me while I help to impeach.

That’s gold...
“Goodbye Gillette. Brilliant.”
Nike made something like six billion off the Kaepernick ads. As one advertising executive said, “There is no such thing as bad publicity.” I looked at Gillette’s (Proctor and Gamble) stock price and, like Nike’s, it went up yesterday.
While I find them disgusting and will try not to buy their products, I can’t blame them if they did something to raise the value of their company. Conservatives do not, apparently, have much effect on a company. (I think Penny’s was already on the ropes when they got woke with the gay themed advertisements.)
“Ill have to switch to dollar shave or Harrys or whatever company it is.
Try Dorco (dorcousa.com) they supply Dollar Shave Club with there razors. They direct sale. Get on there email list for discounts. Been very happy with there razors.
I believe you. Still....
It’s a pretty sad statement on our country, at this time, with both of them.
sigh
So once again, a company is taken over by a horrible leftist woman.
We must continue to push back, folks.

“85,000 likes, it has also racked up 347,000 dislikes with some of the 98,657”
And with most comments deleted after the Youtube liberal scrubbing you can bet there were a lot more negative comments.
It wasn’t easy to find Proctor and Gambles email address where I could send them a note of dissatisfaction but I succeeded.
I was nice but firm and told them the dollar shave club looks pretty good at this point.
Like Dicks or the Dixie Chicks, let these companies understand that there WILL be consequences.
Me too. I printed and snail-mailed a letter to the President of the company.
Disgusting.
Hahahahahahahahahaha! I am taking that graphic!
I'll go to my grave convinced the whole "New Coke" scam was just to switch from sugar to the cheaper high fructose corn syrup, figuring (hoping?) no one would notice when they went back to the "original" -- I do recall reading that Coke was taken by surprise when much of the South turned out to actually prefer the New Coke.
MY S-I-L married a Jamaican. When they had a little boy, from the getgo, I could see that she did not want a boy. She did everything she could to make him act like a girl. But, he was an AA male and ended up queer, unemployable, pot smoking lazy slug without any sign of make behavior.
I liked the Noxema commercials with Farah Fawcett and Joe Namath.
Woke Joe right up.
She should be home, cooking for her husband. #RelaxItsIrony
