A century ago, as Germany was still licking its wounds from World War I, the Bauhaus school of design opened its doors in the eastern city of Weimar. The legendary name still resonates: If you have €237,000 ($273,000) in spare change, you can buy yourself a turnkey “Bauhaus” home, all set to be constructed on a piece of empty land.

The ready-made abodes – prefabricated, modern, stylish and typically bright white in color – vaguely reflect the popular conception of the Bauhaus label. But what does it actually stand for today?

And yes it is slapping time on these clueless numbnuts who do not see the swirling of civilization down the drain of political correctness. But this thread is about architecture.

Ugly architecture and art is also indicative of a downward spiral of culture and civilization. I referenced Second Empire because it is probably one of the most beautiful architectural styles ever created. Sadly, because it was so ornate and hence 'not modern', that countless examples of it in the United States were destroyed. Many courthouses and townhouses were amongst the victims. Even one of the tallest skyscrapers ever built and demolished, the Singer Building in NYC.
