So, if I am correctly understanding what you said, in 2009, when she had a small lesion of pancreatic cancer discovered, that automatically made her Stage 4 pancreatic cancer at that juncture, due to having had colon cancer some years earlier?? So, in effect, the colon cancer had metastasized? Did I get that right?

If they are using ‘off-market’ drugs to sustain minimum daily function, I wonder if she, additionally, has had a stroke and is on life support. I’m thinking vegetative state.
The way my wifes onocologist explained it was if discovered within 10 years it is typically considered the same cancer independent of where it is located and treated as though it has metastized. He said of course there are exceptions (ie every male will eventually get prostate cancer it’s just a matter of when so that is treated different even if there was a prior cancer)
After that time frame (he said it has changed over time) it is considered a new cancer and will be treated dependent on the new location.
Off market drugs could just be compounded drugs.

The stage is correct, but technically, for us normies, the current cancer, no matter its location, will be named for the original cancer.
So, when she goes, she'll have died of colon cancer-that was her first incidence. Sounds stupid, right? I know when I go, my death cert. will say Breast Cancer. When my onc doc (oncologist) told me that, I had a fit! Stupid &(&%^*&*I ing breast cancer gets all the attention! Cripe, they sell dog food with breast cancer ads on it! I didn't want that.
