My wife and I decided when we got married that we would not use credit and pay cash for everything.
We pay cash for houses. We pay cash for everything.
We drove junkie old cars because that’s what we could afford. We shopped at thrift and second hand stores. We purchased a repossessed house that needed a lot of work and did the renovation ourselves. All while raising three daughters and working.
It takes a while (10 years or so) to save the money but once you get the first house bought then you have the built in equity for the second house after you sell it.
Debit free living is actually a very smart thing to do.
“We pay cash for houses. We pay cash for everything.”
Ditto for us. Cash for everything. We lived well below our means; saved, saved, saved. The thought of having a debt is terrifying.
