Expulsion from the United States Congress
FTA:
In the entire history of the United States Congress, 20 Members have been expelled: 15 from the Senate and 5 from the House of Representatives...The great majority of those expelled 17 members were removed from office for their support of the Confederacy...There have only been three other expulsions:
17 members
There’s that number again...
17 members
There’s that number again...
Expulsion from the House or Senate would be done by their cohorts in their respective houses of Congress. That's like Sen. Packwood getting booted out for patting a lady's behind.
That is separate and different from the members getting arrested, tried, convicted, and ######, for their various and sundry crimes.
The US Constitution says that the congress critters will be privileged from arrest "except in cases of treason, felony, or breach of the peace."
Lots of "treason, felony, and breach of the peace" been happening among that bunch of scumbags.
