While Virtual Fences may be useful in some ways, real Fences & Walls works 100% of the time and don't need thousands of computers, networks, and tons of tech and supporting electronic components to do its job. The Great Wall of China is still standing for centuries and don't need billions of taxpayers money to maintain it every year.
I believe it was Schumer who pointed out that a virtual fence enables intefception and arrest of border crosses. That is their goal. Get them in the country where they will ultimately be released. A wall keeps them out.
A “virtual wall” is like your home burglar alarm — it ultimately needs to be backed up a timely armed response. The border patrol is undermanned and stretched thin. What you would have is a tripped alarm that often goes unanswered.
A physical barrier would allow a small force to defend a large perimeter from a force many times as large. Medieval castles were often garrisoned by a relative handful of guards because it slows down the crossing by making it very difficult.
“The Great Wall of China is still standing for centuries and don’t need billions of taxpayers money to maintain it every year.”
And the thing about that wall is that I dare ANYONE, or even a large group of people, armed the way those attacking our Southern Border are armed (with sidearms, if that), to try to make it over (or through) that wall, even if it’s guarded by a handful of Chinese soldiers. In other words, WALLS WORK.
...and the Left knows that, which is why this debate has NOTHING TO DO WITH BORDER SECURITY - that is simply a not a concern for the Dems. It is all about preventing Trump from completing a campaign promise.
A virtual fence is a good depth option to support a real one.
The only reason to only use a virtual fence is to hide that you have security at all and how far it extends.
