Amazon CEO and founder Jeff Bezos said that he will divorce his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Bezos, in a tweet on Wednesday.
"As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends," the couple wrote in the statement.
"If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again," it continued.

Nothing to do with JB’s upcoming divorce, but getting off work, riding the Amazon shuttle last night, it was just another woman and myself heading to the parking lot. I’d estimate that she was in her late 40s. She said she hadn’t yet started her shift, but had gotten a call from her DIL to meet her at the local Wal-Mart to get what sounded like some money the DIL had borrowed to buy food for the lady’s grandbaby. The woman was excited and so grateful to be getting it because she said now she could put much needed gas in her car and have the heat in her house again. She also professed her loyalty to Amazon saying that it was the only thing keeping her in Denver and she would continue to make it her priority even after she started her second job. I don’t begrudge Jeff Bezos the money he has made. And he’s put thousands of people to work all over the world...directly and indirectly. His wealth is astronomical even compared to other super wealthy people so he is an unusual case, for sure. It just seems like things are being set up for more people to be in the position of the lady on the shuttle...barely getting by. I believe that many on the left, and some even on the right, are rooting for us on the bottom to have to fight for the scraps.
Tom Steger better look out. Bozos might try to hit on his lovely wife. Barf!
Why not? If she sues him in California where they have a residence, she gets half in community property.

Wish they could learn about the “Crazy Cycle”, it would save them a TON of MONEY.

Cheaper to keep her. They are all depreciating assets. Better to lease than to buy.
The sticky question is “what is the community property.”
I have a friend who got divorced after 15 or so years in California. (Frankly, he wasn’t that great to live with, and she was still young enough for another try at happiness... in her late 40’s).
He had inherited a modest sum from his parents, and had been very careful to keep it separate from their joint funds and in his name. It was NOT considered community property. However, her share of the home they lived in was, and he had to pay her 50% of the assessed appreciation.
I could see how Bezos could have kept his business property interest separate. Certainly, he can afford the lawyers to help in his legal and financial planning.
It will be interesting to follow.
GEEZE divorce after 25 years that is a long time invested with a person to throw it all away!!! Money doesn’t matter as you get older and find yourself alone in your golden years women will be seeking to be with him for money and that can be very lonely as you get older!!! He probably has some 20 something on the side and THINKS he is in love!!!
Trust me: Younger isn’t always better.

You’d think from their press release that they really really still like each other. If there’s any truth to their words it seems like at least they could stay married for the sake of the kids.
