Wish the sheriffs would shoot that little dog across the street. Barks all day at everything.

Dogs bark when they are left home alone. It's their way of dealing with stress in the absence of their "comfort-owner".

My two dogs had each other's company and were quiet. When one died at 15 y-o, the other (also 15) howled for weeks after I left for work.

He will take a year off with therapy, be deemed as fit, and then go get hired in the next county over. I have seen this happen many times. So he will still get his chance at a kid or senior someday.

We may hear more from this person in the future.

Can’t stereotype small dogs, we have a Toy Fox Terrier like that. Smartest best dog we have ever owned and we have owned a LOT including hunting and herding work dogs. He has to date uttered a couple small barks like 3 times in his whole life and each time it was a very just well needed warning against a true threat.

Something else that bothers me about this situation. Why is it that your front yard is now no longer considered private property and assumed to be public property without restriction or legal protections?

In my book this officer trespassed onto private property without permission and damaged assets on private property. The dog had every legal right to protect that front yard private property.

If this is the case, and the justification is because there was no fence or signs posted, then the city or county should pick up the tax bill for the front yard footage and a portion of the property insurance to “assume public domain rights” onto your front yard.

It is eminent domain without compensation.
