You can see in the video tha the dog, who is named Reeses, starts barking and the deputy shoots her.
Reeses did survive the gunshot wound and her owner confirmed that she would never hurt anyone; he's just happy she is alive.
Crying...when he shot that dog when he shot that dog I had lost it. I though he killed her and now Im fearing he pulls the taser on me Im backing away trying to get back into my house," said Doug Canady.

They do that too?
Could be me.
Oh my!
lol. thanks.
Yeesh.
Never let one of them out in 20 below weather for more than a few minutes.
Neighbor lady did that..
They are dogs! It’s what they do! You need therapy!
Very few dogs bark mindlessly all day.
And you can blame the owner (I know I do). But it’s the dog that needs to be shot.
This deputy is already working on his memoirs.
Deputy had good aim.
You can tell a lot about someone by how they treat animals.
If this ever happened to me, i would think me shooting the officer would be very likely. Not to sound tough and threatening, just kind of an emotional response.

Most likely my course of action as well. It’s called protecting a family member.
He should spend the rest of his life cleaning up dog poo at an apartment complex, and for minimum wage.
I lived with one for a long time. He rarely barked. I was surprised to find that he was, by my standards, a real dog. I liked him.
Its many years later, and my wife has had two. Both the sweetest, gentle, fun dogs you could have. Both have loved riding on motorcycles, are great with kids.
Roz, our current one was a puppy rescue and is part shibo inu. I take her deer hunting and she loves it. She is always on a lead, knows how to scout, signal and track and loves the kill and riding on the deer as I drag it down the hill.
They are good watch dogs and thats where their barking comes from. I think it is very important just as with any dog they get properly socialized with other dogs and people early in life. If you had told me when I was younger that I would some day have and love chihuahuas, I would have told you to take a leap.
I feel stupid saying such a thing. I mean, that’s a cop. This isn’t some regular thug where “Stand your ground” or “castle doctrine” comes into play.
The house next door to me was vacant for 5 years. Then a family with a chihuahua moved in a couple of years ago. That damned mutt hasnt shut up since they moved in. Ive tried everything to shut that oversized rat up, Bought some anti barking sonic things. Screamed at it. I even took my 600 watt speaker out and blasted German Shepherd barking noises at 150 dB. I think the only thing that will shut him up is if I shoot him. I think the neighbors are deaf. It doesnt seem to bother them. Im praying the fence falls down in the next windstorm and he decides to come into our yard. If he does hes going to the furthest dog pound I can drive to in a day.
I think some social behaviors can be remedied and prevented in pets by properly socializing them to other animals and people and training them when its ok to do the barking thing. I will not tolerate my dogs addressing the neighbors or there animals (cats, dogs, horses, cows, and especially passing bikers & walkers) by aggressive behavior or barking. Ive owned dogs for over 50 years. Mine are trained to be civil or else. EOS.
Can you convince them to get the dog a bark collar? Bark collars can be a PITA to set up, but they do work when adjusted correctly and when their batteries are charged.
A noise ordinance can come in very handy when dog owners won't accept responsibility for their pets.
Otherwise, you might try a call to the local cops, who might agree that the dog is a public nuisance.
Good luck. I have to deal with one eternally barking dog frequently on my nighttime walks. I'm sure I would learn to hate him if he lived next door.
