A student has died after falling from cliffs in Ireland while reportedly taking a selfie.
The man in his 20s fell from the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, in the west of the country.
He was studying in Dublin and Irish media say he was an Indian national.
Police are treating it as a "tragic accident" amid reports he slipped while taking the selfie on Friday afternoon.
A police spokesman said: "The alarm was raised shortly after 3pm when a man was seen falling from the cliff edge."
His body was later recovered by the coastguard based at Doolin and taken to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
The cliffs are one of Ireland's most popular tourist attractions and at the highest point are 214m (702ft).

a must for any new visitor to Ireland
outside of the visitors center, really no barriers between you and the edge, muddy trails, windy.
RIP
Seems to me the majority of ‘selfie death’ stories I read involve Indians or Pakistanis.
I didn’t realize that Ireland was also in the midst of a gov’t shutdown.
Actually, the fall didn’t kill him . . .
People like to do death-defying stunts while taking a selfie, showing the world how brave they are. But there is a veil-thin line between bravery and stupidity.
LMAO!
Guess he wasn’t studying physics.
Smart phones need an edge detector warning system and stuff.
TGTS (the great Trump shutdown) will catch the blame. It’s SO bad that even the park rangers in Ireland are affected.
There are signs all along the cliffs to stay on the safe walkway or basically die...

For the life of me, I can't think of one related to a death-causing "selfie". Glad I only have an old clamshell flip-phone that doesn't do "selfies".

I tend to be brave except where deadly heights are involved. I mean even watching dare devils involving heights on TV makes my boys hide.
I can fly in flimsy light planes and it doesnt bother me. But get me near the edge of a cliff with nothing in front of me and I back away.
After watching the movie, “Edge Of The World”. I was reading about it and the filming. Learned there are several Scottish Islands with 400 foot precipices. They just drop right off into the sea.
I imagine Ireland is the same.
I have been to the Cliffs of Moher too. I was amazed to see no barriers on the slippery walkway on the edge of the cliffs. The liability laws in Ireland must be different than ours.
