It was a typical Friday night at Gable House Bowl in Torrance people celebrating birthdays, friends meeting up for a few rounds of bowling at the end of the workweek.
Then gunfire erupted. People scrambled for cover.
When it was over, three people lay dead inside, including two 28-year-old men who were best friends. Four others were injured.
On Saturday morning, friends and relatives of the victims huddled in a nearby parking lot, waiting for the bodies to be brought out and for answers about what happened.

Just my curiosity, but I just can’t remember the last time anyone ever started a gun-fight at a bowling alley. Course, I haven’t been bowling in a decade, but this seems a bit unusual.
The Whole damn state of CA. is a gun free zone, LOL, LOL, LOL,!!!!!
Apparently Chuck-E-Cheese was closed.....
Obviously you haven’t been lately or you would know that the owners get highly upset when someone uses the term “alley”. They are bowling ‘centers’ now. ‘Alley’ has negative connotations. LOL!
No LOL if you live there. I remember back when cali was pretty cool. Mid 1950’s.
This is not Nam. This is bowling. There are rules!
You are entering a world of pain. You mark that frame an 8, and youre entering a world of pain!
From what I’ve heard, so many other late-night options have closed because of the problems with clientele that this is one of the few options left. This is only news because it happened in an area where mass shootings aren’t typical. The news media jumped on it, probably hoping for a white shooter so they could publicize it heavily without fear of being called racist.
;-)
I know I shouldn’t post this, and I’ll be accused of being the rudest sort of insensitive lout, but one of the funniest things I ever saw happened at a bowling alley. A group of deaf individuals were bowling, and some sort of disagreement broke out. Two men were furiously arguing in total silence, there bodies leaning in against each other, eyes wide as they gesticulating wildly with their hands flashing their displease rapidly in sign language. It was straight out of a Monty python skit.
Dindu Nuffin eruption...video shows it was started by 3 hoes pulling at each other’s hair weaves, and the ‘men’ got sucked into it.
Oh, silent shouting match.
Your ignorance of CA law is showing. Most CA counties offer CCW permits LOL, LOL, LOL!
It is clear to this native, after returning every once in awhile over past decades, that CA is approaching Venezuela-like status at an increasing rate of speed.
Native residents by and large do not clearly recognize the decline (which decline accounts in part for my screen name).
Three more and it’s a spare!
“He was a good guy. He wasn’t into no gangbanging,” his father said.
Horrible. This hit close. We used to go there all the time.
Actually, our visits would have ended the same way for our family if my little children had guns. Coming out of that arcade, they were usually fighting and crying all the way to the car over who got better cheap toy prizes.
Picked up a 7/10 split on a bet?
Thank you for that info. Let's put it to the test.
1. Suppose I am of age, have a clean record and am not connected with its sheriff or local politician, will any county in CA grant me a CCW license based on no more than I tell it I want to avoid trouble?
2. Perhaps easier, will any county in CA issue a CCW for no other reason than I hold such a license in a number of other states?
3. If there is such a county will its license be valid throughout CA?
Thanks for you thoughts.
Been to many birthday parties and other events thru the years with our kids. Have not been back there close to a decade now. The gable house is in a nice south Torrance neighborhood, million-dollar homes and good schools.
Prayers for the familys involved.
