I’d say he got a fair deal. He probably could have opened the door with a credit card or something similar.
They should have at least given him a free meal.
Interestingly, he isn’t going for gold here. His lawyer calculated the cost of the free meals at ~$9,000 based on a life expectancy of 72 years.
They apparently reneged on the free meal for life offer, which is what set him off.
My wife was locked in a enclosed toilet in our room in Puerto Vallarta. It took them about 3 hours to get her out — they ended up cu ripping the doorknob out.
We got 4 free days which we used on our next trip. The full doors were gone and replaced with 3/4 glass partition swing doors.
Not as private but better than the toilet next to the shower.
