In the liberal mind every minority is a victim - of everything.
I’m very happy with our Dollar General in particular. Always go there for all of our paper items and laundry products, that cost a fraction of supermarket prices. Name brand canned goods are also a couple $$ less than at groceries. It’s true there are many junk items, too, but one doesn’t have to buy them. The store fills a need.
Two words - portion control.
e.g. - A muffin ceases to be such when it approaches the size of a softball.
Dollar Stores in New Orleans are in high crime neighborhoods and are robbed daily. They are more black ATM’s than places to shop. Big items to steal are laundry detergent/cleaning supplies and baby items. Guess the resale value on the street is high. Armed robberies are so common I’m sure a day without one is strange.
Decades ago I was teaching econ at a local university in Omaha. My co-author and I did a study of retail grocery prices in “inner-city” and “urban” stores of the same chain. Overall, prices in the inner city stores were about 11% higher than in the urban stores. Virtually all of the price differential was caused by insurance costs in the inner city, mainly theft and vandalism. At what point do you put a good measure of the blame where it belongs: On those people who live there?
How about turning in the criminals in your neighborhood, stop doing drugs & drinking, raise your kids right, etc.
Then maybe your neighborhood might stop resembling a third-world you-know-what.
Hey wait, smart self-reliant people are a minority now! You and I are in the money! Woo hoo!
Im somewhat surprised at the misconceptions on this thread. First, nobody grocery shops at Dollar General. It is for picking up something you need quickly and you dont want to run one town over to Aldi, Save-A-Lot or Walmart. Secondly, they are not owned/run in my area by East Indians/Asians, they are corporate. Thirdly, we are very rural and are thankful for the option.
Sad but true. You are correct, giant biz-op.
There is a Dollar Tree a quarter mile from the house. Its very convenient. The super Wal-Mart is just across 8 lanes of traffic. Walking to Dollar Tree is quick, to Wal-Mart, not so much
It is not rare to see an EBT card customer with a basket full of junk food, sweets and cigarettes.
Neighbors son works at a large Florida Publix.
He tells the tale of watching people check out with meats, lobsters, etc and then helping them put their purchase in their mercedes.
Form of payment EBT card..... Unless you know what they look like it appears that they have used a CC .
More Kabuki theater and non policing of system abuse by our elected reps......
Same thing when you have to go to Social Security Office.
Rings galore, I Phones, I Pads, and then into “ I’m disabled “ mode give me mine, which actually is me and you paying for the fraud...
It’s not stealing if you can assume the victim is white.
Dollar Tree is a great store!
For cheap but nice cards, gift wrappings , celebration balloons, small cheap tools, cleaning products . A bargain. You can get name brand stuff way cheaper than a grocery store.
One’s headquartered in Tennessee, the other in Virginia. Since they are Southern corporations, they are, by definition, racist. They even have White Men working for them. There’s the proof. (Practicing my prog speech).
No mention of Trader Joe’s and Aldis - much the same as the Dollar branded stores. ‘Use by’ dates reset and relabeled is now legal and is how they make much of their profit - probably a bit more than the usual one cent per item profit most make.
I regularly go to various shopping centers around the Milwaukee area as part of my winter work ... it is easy to tell which grocery stores/shopping centers are in the ghetto or near one ... mega trash in the parking lots: needles, fast food meals, clothing labels, catheters, diapers broken glass beer bottles, and the ever present police vehicle.
The trouble is that over time I’ve seen nice shopping centers with clean grocery stores slowly become transformed. The ghetto creeps because law enforcement is only as good as the liberally controlled judicial system which, these days, thinks criminals are victims and lets them go with a slap on the wrist at most. No respect, no punishment, no care.
So come the weekly checks out they go with the whole family to the fast food joints then to the shopping centers were they eat their meals, change the kids diapers, toss the used diapers and trash out, go into the clothing stores by their stuff, back to the car, toss the labels, stickers, boxes, and hangers out in the piles, move to the next store ...
Women leave fast food piles with diapers and empty Newport Menthol packs, men leave fast food piles with empty cigarillo packs ...
I agree with most of what you have, although try getting a permit in any city to be a street vendor and see what the liberals have to say about that.
As for transportation, don’t forget they also get to ride for free, and it’s usually not more than about 10 minutes to get out of their hellholes.
This POS article was obviously written by a POS Leftist who would be the FIRST PERSON to bitch if a Walmart tried to open, and would also be the FIRST WHITE PERSON to join a BLM rally complaining that police are arresting ‘youths’ for petty crimes like shoplifting.
...the this Leftist would have no clue, at all, regarding cause and effect.
BINGO!!!
Exactly. If you live out in the country, its just more convenient and costs less in time and money to pick up what you need in a local dollar store than it is to drive 20-30 minutes to a town that has a Wal Mart.
They dont have everything, but they have enough on hand to not have to make a long trip every day.
Another thing...those Dollar Tree stores have their own cult following. Do a search on YouTube sometime. There are numerous channels dedicated to it, many of which are crafting related that make $$$$$$ for their affluent content creators.
Yes, the “problem” is that companies continue to locate where they think they can make money.
Former Democrat presidential candidate Patricia Schroeder said that “business owners must learn that the purpose of a company is to provide jobs for the workers”.
What we have here, as before, is idiocy on parade.
