Words fail me.
Why should he keep his Christian convictions secret?
Tom Hanks....has become the go-to ‘actor’ for the old guy roles.
A second movie about Mr. Rogers just one year after the last one? Did I read that correctly? Tom Hanks must be running out of script offers. Or is this going to be a look at “the dark side” of Mr. Rogers? Please don’t ruin yet another childhood memory for a lot of people. My family never did watch the show on a regular basis. My Mom said she always found Mr. Rogers manner somewhat ‘questionable’.
save me a spot sleeping on the sidewalk to buy advance tickets.
I'm guessing it's not going to have the version of Mr. Rogers that teaches kids how to spot false flag incidents.
Given the writers and director I doubt celebrating Rogers Christianity is their priority
The old moguls ship sailed so long ago now
Despite being Jewish they were very sympathetic to the religion of their audience
Hollywood today places politic about profit
No question
Sad
Hope Im wrong
I actually think Tom Hanks will do a great job. He really is good in these roles. My mom worked with Walt Disney and she was amazed at how Hanks captured him.
I never liked Mr. Rogers as a child. And I was a shy, timid child! He seemed far too scared and shy for even me. The way he talked to us as though we were terrified of our own shadows really creeped me out. I hated his female voice impressions and that stupid cat. I just never connected with him at all.
Two movies for Mr. Rogers, but nothing for Captain Kangaroo, Mr. Green Jeans, Mr. Moose, Bunny Rabbit or Tom Terrific... Looks like the fix was in for the strange one all along.
When I was a kid Mr. Rogers was one of those shows I’d surf into and stop and look at for a second or two to wonder WHO THE HELL WATCHES THIS DAMN THING!? His soporific quality fascinated me.
I haven’t seen a Tom Hanks movie since Hanks and his wife donated to the Clintons’ defense fund.
And I have a long memory, Hollyweird.
I know I’m resurrecting a post from back in December of last year, but the trailer for the movie dropped this morning. After watching it, I can say that I THINK they got it right about Fred Rogers.
I was afraid they’d make the film into a hit piece on the man, trying to destroy his legacy. Much to my surprise, the trailer seemed to do justice to just how nice the guy was in real life...all the time. The reviewer from MovieWeb said that this film might be “the most wholesome film ever made’.
Crossing my fingers. Film comes out around Thanksgiving this year.
