The former controller of Continental BMW in Connecticut used the stolen funds for travel, plastic surgery, and a $50,000 Ford Mustang.

Vanessa Vence-Small, the former controller of Continental BMW in Darien Connecticut, has been accused of embezzling $1.1 million from the successful, family-owned car dealership. Vence-Small is now facing 30 months in prison courtesy of the U.S. District Court in New Haven, Connecticut after pleading guilty of wire fraud, Automotive News reports.

In order to supplement her $150,000 yearly income, the former controller cooked the books to the tune of over a million bucks over the course of 2.5 years. Allegedly she dropped over $50,000 on a new Ford Mustang, which was later forfeited and valued at just $28,840, and spent the rest of her stolen money on things like lavish travels around the globe, cosmetic surgery, and some landscaping and remodeling for her house.

“- - - darken their roots?”

You just triggered the snowflake part of me. I’m so offended by such a racist remark.

When she was seen wearing a “I wish these were brains” t-shirt in the office that should have been a red flag.

Buying a Mustang while working for BMW was especially egregious. She should have at least had the courtesy to kickback a little of her stolen money by purchasing a BMW.

At least she could have gotten her BMW serviced without a month long wait.

If she serviced the service manager liked she serviced her dealership, she may have even gotten a free car wash.

I worked a case, also in CT, where someone at a muffler repair shop also embezzled almost that exact same amount.

And he got almost the same exact sentence !

In SC, I could live like an emperor on 150K

My needs are rather modest.

The dealer most likely provided her a BMW to drive and she still brought a Mustang! What does that say about a BMW? Someone willing to steal money to buy a Mustang when they could drive a BMW for free!

And many companies to not even press charges. They quietly let people that do this go because public companies are “embarrassed” that they could let something like this happen and private companies don’t want to deal with legal issues or enhanced audits. I have been in procurement for 30 years and have seem both instances happen several times. It amazes me. The last guy was estimated to have managed over $800K in supply chain kickbacks only to be let go with no law involved. Too embarrassing. Now he’s in the mid-west, likely doing the same thing.

When she gets out she should get in touch with Stormy. They could start a great enterprise together.

Luckily for Continental BMW, they were able to get $755,000 of these damages covered by insurance

Not so lucky the rest of us who have to pay higher premiums to make up for these thieves.

Bet if she were ugly she'd get a whole lot more time.

So there is is much slosh and profit that a dealer can loose $400K/yr and stay in business? And we are worried about the pittance US auto workers make?

Not that much profit. The article says they were letting people go before they found out.

Can you imagine? She probably had friends and co-workers being laid off while she stole over a million.

Heartless beyotch.
