I’ve come to the conclusion that one can lose weight on any sufficiently unbalanced diet.

Quite serious, bully, what is "balanced"? For example, frosted flakes are not exactly a naturally-occurring food. And, a couple of generations ago, people didn't snack between meals, ate between 8 AM and 6 PM, (14 hours/day fasting), and many people ate non-GMO foods (as GM of foodstuffs hadn't been invented yet), from local farms where the livestock weren't inundated with hormones and just ate grass. And most of their food and drink wasn't overflowing with high fructose corn syrup, either. Look at old episode of Mayberry RFD or other shows. Most *everyone* was skinny, without personal trainers. Me to is an antidote to the commercialization of eating. (As an experiment, go cold turkey on TV for two months. When you come back, count the number of ads which are for food, at all hours of the day and night.)
