The alert tones scared the crap out of me.

The thought occurred to me also. But I’m already in the basement.
I was an old radio DJ back in the era when you heard the EBS tones and they meant that there was a possibility it was an imminent nuclear attack on the way. When those same EBS tones come out of your phone at 11:30 at night and wake you up out of a sound sleep, it’s going to scare the living bejeebers right out of you. Just like they did to me. I don’t think I’ll be going back to sleep tonight.

Hmm - maybe the “boomer” nickname isn’t just because of the birthrate!?
