The John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell team-up was not screened in advance for critics, so subsequent reviews will likely be added that may affect the score.
Holmes & Watson the latest team-up from Step Brothers duo John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell has earned a rare (albeit, likely unwelcome) feat.
The movie currently sits at a zero percent on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as of 8 a.m. PT with 12 reviews accounted for. (The movie was not screened in advance for critics, so subsequent reviews will likely be added that may affect the score.)
Reilly and Ferrell parody Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detectives, leading a cast that includes Kelly Macdonald, Rebecca Hall and Ralph Fiennes.
The Hollywood Reporter's critic Frank Scheck wrote of the holiday comedy that released Dec. 25: "Numerous talented British thespians are wasted in supporting roles in this Christmas turkey that, not surprisingly, wasn't screened in advance for critics. Although making them troop out to theaters Christmas morning is something of which even Ebenezer Scrooge wouldn't have approved."
The movie opened at a crowded Christmas Day box office, placing No. 4 behind Aquaman, Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns, and earning $6.4 million.
As 2018 comes to a close, two other films released this year earned zero percent fanfare: The Amber Heard-starring mystery adaptation London Fields and John Travolta's Gotti, the biopic about the late mobster John Gotti.
He knows his audience...........................
Gotti!.........................
The best review I saw on IMDB. Lot’s of fun scrolling thru them:
“A film for the ages
torbrowsingthomas28 December 2018
Will Ferrell is a beautiful and amazing transgender actor who does not deserve the hate she is currently recieving. We are living in 2018 and it is time for Christianity to finally hault on all its hate. Yes I understand a lot of you are less progressive than myself but in the future is it my kind which will be known for creating the positive future of tomorrow. Not you people. And in that future the entire works of Will Ferrell will be our Bible and great leaders will carry around USB sticks with our beautiful transgender God to signify his importance.”
I saw the trailer and thought, they put the best things in the trailer and this trailer stinks on ice.
Watched the trailer. Usually they put the funniest parts in those. It’s bad. Real bad.
The only movie that included Will Farrell that I liked was The Lego Movie.
He's playing Oliver Hardy in a Laurel and Hardy biopic that's out now (or soon).
That would have to be more worth seeing than Holmes and Watson.
I don't think you could call Ferrell and Reilly the world's greatest comedy team.
Precisely
I took my family to see this movie today.
It was the worst movie I have ever seen in my life.
My opinion has nothing to do with the 4 political hit jobs on Trump, white male juries, guns...
No. It was just THAT BAD.
I CRINGED from the opening scene through the entire movie.
20 minutes in, my 16 yr old son leaned over and whispered, “this is the worst movie ever”.
There was a couple sparse unenthusiastic chuckles but other than that, NOTHING.
When the lights when up, other families rose in stunned silence.
I’m talking worse than Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
There’s an awful English movie coming coming out that shows the dog biting President Trump in the crotch. Dispicable!
Yeah, I imagine it would be far better.
Most of Ferrell’s movies are asinine, insipid and downright idiotic. Even when given a serious opportunity as with ‘Holmes’ he screws it up worse than the Titanic’s Captain...................
You should but your son the collected works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, so he can see the REAL Sherlock and Watson!................
I am reading it right now!

Farrells movies fall into THREE categories; BAD ,VERY BAD, and GODAWFUL BAD!....................
I kind of liked him in "The Lego Movie" - although he was only on screen for 5 minutes at the end (notwithstanding him lending his voice to one of the animated characters).
