LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR/FOX 13) - Porch pirates are a common trend during the holidays, but one Colorado woman took matters into her own hands and refused to become a victim.
Renee Abeyta was at her Lakewood home doing chores Wednesday afternoon when she received a notification from her Ring home surveillance system that someone was at her front door. She looked but didn't see anyone. Then, she searched through the recordings her camera captured, and saw an unknown woman grab a package from the front porch, and walk away.
Abeyta walked outside and yelled, Hey! as she saw the woman crossing the street.
I thought, No way this is happening to me, she explained to KDVR. She ended up confronting the woman and captured it all on cell phone video. Abeyta asked the alleged porch pirate for her name and if she stole something.
Give it! Im gonna (expletive) call the police! I got you on camera (expletive), Abeyta is heard saying on video.
Leave me alone lady. I didnt take anything.
Yes, you did. I saw you!
Abeyta ended up chasing her down for about a minute, yelling -- along with a string of some expletives-- before the suspect finally stopped in her tracks. The suspect handed the stolen package -- which contained a Crock Pot cover -- to Abeyta.
Im sorry, the woman said.
Abeyta hopes that the woman doesnt do it again. She shared video of the confrontation on her Facebook page. She explained that she couldn't believe she went after the woman, but also felt that the suspect shouldn't get away with it in the middle of the day.
Hopefully, that girl and other people dont steal stuff, she said, because its Christmas and, I mean, these are presents for people.
“Can we stop calling them cutesy names.”

Second that.
Same goes for “caravans” - say “foreign invaders”.
Porch Monkey would be even better . . . they are always stealing stuff, like bananas and stuff.
I hope the thief has been publicly outed and internet-shamed.
Cheap, modern technology is making it hard to be a thug these days.
[Thou shalt not steal
Kind of simple and means nothing to so many.]
A little boy saw God and asked Him “Lord, why is there so much violence in my school”?
God said “Because they took me out of your school”.
A CROCKPOT LID!!
I’d bet she was on meth. They have no regard for anything.
Chased? Lead would have been better.
“Risking her freedom and possibly her health or life... for a crockpot lid. “

Huh? I don’t know anyone who would passively watch and let a girl walk off with their property. Maybe only if the victim were quadriplegic.
Those have been thrown away for less.
See some on Live PD.
Anyway, slap on the wrist and maybe show for court.
At least a couple of fat asses got some exercise.
And don’t knock crockpot lids. If the previous lid broke, a replacement lid is a thoughtful gift - particularly if you were the one who broke the lid in the first place.
For a package that could contain, what? Jewelry? A laptop? An iPhone? Or?...
Sad to think of future generations. It will be a different world from the one we knew. That is unless the Lord returns before then.
In some countries they would cut off her hands.
Hey! My mom would appreciate a new crockpot lid handle (knob?).
She looked like a feminazi/SJW type to me.
Where is she going to fence a crockpot cover?
Nowhere. She didn’t know what was in the package. None of them do.
Yes, very sad. It already is such a different world from what we once knew.
