2014 Christmas ad from Sainsburys Christmas is for sharing. Made in partnership with The Royal British Legion, it commemorates the extraordinary events of Christmas Day, 1914, when the guns fell silent and two armies met in no-mans land, sharing gifts and even playing football together.
The chocolate bar featured in the ad is on sale now at Sainsburys. All profits will go to The Royal British Legion and will benefit the armed forces and their families, past and present.

100% agree! Best advertisement ever. I look this up on youtube and re-watch it every year.
Good stuff . Thanks.
They won’t even consider my eye surgery for another six months, but jeez, sometimes my vision is really blurry.
Watched Joyeux Noel last night. Great Christmas movie.
Proves it wasn’t their war.
I’ve never seen this before - thank you so much for posting.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Makes it all the more special
The hymn in the vid is “Leaning On The Everlasting Arms”. Composed in my old hometown. Bit of history.
Beautiful.
Wow. What town? That piano arrangement appeared in True Grit V. 2.0. Carter Burwell arranged the music for that Coen Brothers masterpiece. But the music sure fits well here. Great ad!
Thank you.

Paul McCartney made a charming video based on this, for his song “Pipes of Peace.” It’s on YouTube.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
No, it wasn't. The "Great War" is a contender for the title of greatest disaster to befall Western Civilization.
This was a great history lesson for my kids. They watched it and asked if that really happened.
Nice, sad, but nice.
Sent this to my young grandsons who just learned about WWI recently. They will love it. Thank you. And Merry Christmas
