1. US troops will leave eastern and northern Syria, but America is not deserting this part of the country, said the officials, without revealing the nature of its continuing presence.

We need to be close enough to strike Iran’s forces in Syria. Payback ongoing.

Dekba's credibility is only slightly above Sorcha Faal's.

"Following the backlash from President Trump’s decision to withdraw US troops from NE Syria, senior administration officials Friday night, Dec. 21 offered Mid East leaders clarifications for allaying their concerns. DEBKAfile’s sources reveal those messages’ high points:"

Fist, we have more unnamed anonymous sources contradicting what the President just said in public. I'll take the President's own words over a unnamed source contradicting him outside of the U.S. when no one in the U.S. has said anything close to what the article alleges.

Second, this article is dated December 22, over a phone call the previous night, when Israel is seven hours ahead of Eastern time. I really doubt the people getting these confidential phone calls immediately called Debka so they could get a story out by noon Israeli time, instead of a more mainstream news outlet, not that any Isreali news agency would for the next reason.

Debkafile is a complete fraud. Debka is registered in Israel, which does not allow news agencies to release classified or privileged information. If Debka was getting details like this a few hours after the calls was made, they would be shut down by the Shin Bet.

Debka articles don't get posted here hat often because people catch on they were fake news before fake news was a thing.

I posted it for a hopeful clarification ... that you think it i fake news is an opinion not a fact. The statements where not contradictions but clarifications - clarifications often seem somewhat contradictory but in this case they make sense.

anonymous sources do not always mean fake - another popularized meme.

You have your doubts about the speed at which the news was leaked - text messages are very swift. MSN often sits on stories which contradict bad press.

What in this story is classified? Which part is privileged information? One would have to know the entire story to make those determination.

Debka file is not posted here often because so many Feepers go along with the “Debka fake news” meme (popularized by influential posters) and can’t stand the heat, so the stay silent, IMHO.

We’ll see the truth or falsity in time. I hope Debka is correct as that would make DJT’s decisions on Syria make more sense.

Your millage may very ...

Keeping air assets in the region would be effective.

“Dekba’s credibility is only slightly above Sorcha Faal’s.”

I actually subscribe to their email news. And yes, over the last couple of decades what they call news seldom if ever matches reality.

I have used it as a contrarian source of news where it’s used similar to a contrarian investing strategy. By this I mean that whatever they say, most likely the exact opposite is the truth.

I say pull out, Have the Kurds declare an Independent Kurdistan, Recognize the new government immediately like we did with Israel in 1948. Sign an air base agreement, and give them artillery, armor and helicopters as foreign aid. This screws over Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Throughout the Syria pullout brouhaha, my question has always been “what were the consultations with Israel and what does Israel have to say about this.” A president who honors and respects Israel as much as Donald Trump, and unlike the previous WH squatter, one suspects that Israel’s involvement was a factor.
