Today's Cryptogram
12/21/2018 | Nikos1121

Posted on 12/21/2018 8:34:35 AM PST by nikos1121

I've discovered that there are a few of us out there, who can't start the day without doing the daily Cryptoquote or cryptogram.

You can find this little fun word game in several daily publications, unfortunately they are copyrighted so we can't use them here.

If anyone is interested in starting a club, we can take turns making one up and posting here daily. Just drop me a line that you're in.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter.

For example:

AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW Here's one for today: Clues B=E and R=Y

CYB MASCYBS XAGNUASQ RZP GAK FZZN, CYB MASCYBS MZSUASQ RZP ASB FLNBFR CZ TBB. --ULKTCZK GYPSGYLFF

Beware, the game is very addictive. Don't be intimidated.

If you can solve this under 8 minutes you're good. Under 5 minutes is very good. Under 3 excellent. Under 2 minutes, exceptional.

I have a stupid question. If R=Y, does that mean Y=R?

There used to be a site called Daily Cryptogram that was very user friendly. If you typed a guessed letter in a slot, all the same slots became that letter. Made things very easy. But the site closed down about a month ago.
Anyway, sign me up, please!

Oh no!!!!!! You are right!!!! MISTAKE!!!!!! MISTAKE!!!!

I APOLOGIZE. THE CRYPTOGRAM WAS WRITTEN WITH AN ERROR.

The same letter should NOT be part of the puzzle. I apologize. I’ll get it right tomorrow, I promise.

In today’s puzzle, A=A. It should never equal the same letter.

Yes, there are many helpful sites on this.

Here’s one:

Hal’s Cryptogram Helper

My first cryptogram has an error. I have A=A which should NEVER be.

No R=Y not the other way around.

I messed up, as everyone brought this to my attention.

A cryptogram should never have the same letter for that letter. In this case A=A and that should NEVER happen.

So, I’m solving the puzzle for today since it was messed up. We’ll do better tomorrow, Folks.

CYB MASCYBS XAGNUASQ RZP GAK FZZN, CYB MASCYBS MZSUASQ RZP ASB FLNBFR CZ TBB. —ULKTCZK GYPSGYLFF

Lol - ok. Don’t dumb it down too much for me or everyone else will get annoyed. Plus I’ll feel REALLY stupid if I don’t get it.

I said it would easier, not easy.... lol.

One week from now, you’ll be hooked on these, and unable to start your day without doing it.

Back in the early ninties, I had a staff of eighteen software engineers. I started every day giving them a paper handout which was a photocopy of the daily crossword, jumble, and cryptoquote.
There was a natural competition to see who could finish first ... I was always strong on the jumble, and pretty good with the crypty. It was good mental calesthenics, and started every day on a good note. My staff looked forward to it.

Please add me to your ping list. I’ll look forward to the quiz.

I have NO idea WHY you added me on top this post, as I have less than NO interest in cryptograms.

OTOH...I've been doing crossword puzzels and THE JUMBLE since I was around 6.

I have far better things to keep my busy and intellectually stimulated than a dumb ( to me ) daily cryptogram posted here!
