Elementarys forthcoming seventh season will be its last, CBS announced Monday.
A lot of parties came together and talked about their positions on the show both in terms of business and in terms of creative and we all decided that this was an opportune time to say goodbye to a show that has been very, very good to us, CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl said in a statement to our sister site Deadline.
Added EP Carl Beverly: [Series creator] Rob [Doherty] set out to tell a story, and it feels like he has accomplished what he had set out to do. The actors, the crew and the cast feel that way, and we feel that. So are grateful and celebrating what we had and looking forward to the future.
TVLines Renewal Scorecard has been updated to reflect Elementarys farewell
The shows sixth season ended with Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) relocating to the UK. When we come back in the seventh season, a year will have passed, Doherty previously revealed to TVLine. So all of our characters will have had time to really reflect on what happened at the end of the sixth season.
Production on Season 7 wrapped last week; CBS has yet to announce a premiere date.
Syndication deal says “not worth producing any more episodes”!

My entire family loved this series. It will be missed.
Some of the episodes were really good. I never cared much for Joan Watson and even less when she always dressed as a man and wanted to adopt a child. So I went from a huge to dropping it at the end of the fifth season.
We love Elementary. So sorry to see it go. Have been watching the reruns and wondering when it would resume.
Dibs on Lucy Liu.
I think I stopped watching after the fourth adoption epi in a row.
The show had enough problems due to the program scheduling wienie fairies at CBS.
Started great but jumped the shark around season 3-4. The usual PC leaking and Cross dressing Watson was an aggravating distraction.
Yes!
Joan Watson is now free to move in with me.
She looks plenty girlie to me.
On rare occasion Rush mentioned watching it
When it was good, it was good. When it was bad, it was very bad. Dropped it a while back.
I watched for the first 3-4 years, and then stopped. Got bored with it, and the characters.
It’s my fault; I never watched it.
I’ve never heard of it.
It could deal out the occasional surprise but not often enough and he had a tendency to lecture on thing unrelated to the plot and of dubious validity.
Most TV shows go stale after 3-4 years and Lucy Liu is getting kind of long in the tooth.
Mumble mumble mumble. Mumble, mumble mumble mumber. Mumble mumble, mumble. Mumble mumble mumble. Mumble, mumble mumble mumber. Mumble mumble, mumble. Mumble mumble mumble. I had to watch the show by myself though because my wife hated the show. For some reason she doesnt much like Sherlock Holmes in any form.
So I mostly watched the show on-demand.
But the older I get the less tolerance for commercials I have.
They started putting almost as many commercials in the on-demand shows as the live shows and repeat the same commercials more so I have mostly just not watched the shows at all.
If they run it on Netflix or Prime I will probably watched there.
