Starbucks bathrooms may be open to all, but good luck finding a free stall

When you’ve gotta go, don’t go to Starbucks.

Seven months after the coffee kingdom declared its toilets open to all — no purchase necessary! — visitors who hear nature’s call are finding it isn’t always easy to lighten their loads.

Finding a usable Starbucks toilet in the Big Apple might actually have gotten harder since last spring’s announcement — and not just for non-customers.

Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson declared the open-toilets policy after two black men were infamously arrested in a Philadelphia Starbucks. They asked to use the toilet and were told it was for customers only. When they sat to wait for a friend, they were handcuffed and charged with “trespassing.”

But a Post survey found some supposedly liberated loos in different Manhattan neighborhoods closed to everyone.

As with toilets, so with the country.

If you let everyone in to come here and take what others have produced, pretty soon there is nothing for anyone.

(Except for the ruling elite, which has whatever it wants).

Must be a NYC thing, because I walked into a Starbucks the other morning and went to the bathroom and it wasn’t an issue.

It is an urban thing. NYC tried paid toilets stalls like they have in Europe. They quickly turned into drug and prostitution stalls so the toilets were removed.

The suburbs don’t have the number of derelicts, bums, and addicts which the urban areas do. When you offer bathrooms to the homeless, they quickly make them impossible to keep clean for the paying customers.

Within NYC, I’ve been to three Starbucks, and none had a public restroom. I think most coffee shops (not just Starbucks), within high urbanized areas....don’t have a public rest-room.

I was at my department Christmas party last week. The office has two Starbuck’s within 100 yards so I knew that any gift cards for the exchange would be starbucks. I was right.

I chose a random gift and lucked out. No gift card.

I’m also the only one in the department that doesn’t work at the office, (Home and road) so I never have reason to go to Starbuck’s

Yeah, that's easy for we Bible-clinging gun-toting rednecks to say, but out east they frown on people using their broom closet.

I haven’t been in a Starbucks in 3 years!

Yes, remember having to wait in line to use a bathroom at one, that was dirtier than a truck stop in Tijuana

Just part of the reason I don’t go there anymore.

It’s amazing how many people in New York will sit in a Starbucks for hours and hours, from open to close.

I’ve used Starbucks bathrooms all over and never had a problem. Even in upstate New York. So this must just be a New York City thing. NYC isn’t like the rest of the world

I've never been to a Starbucks. Ever.

I don't drink coffee.

All I've heard is that they are liberal and very expensive.

Two reason right there to continue my unintended boycott.

It's an urban thing and - Surprise! - the original case that started all this was in a big city. It's normal in big cities for restaurants to insist you buy something to access their restrooms because otherwise they will get trashed by the homeless and worse. But now common sense isn't allowed because PC. so the predictable result is that in a city the bathrooms are either terribly disgusting now OR they don't exist for anyone anymore.

If only feel-good lefties had enough brain cells to project their thoughts into the future and imagine the obvious consequences of their foolishness the world would be a much better place. But they go through life continuously surprised and outraged that their stupid emotion based politics makes things worse, and they apply more emotion based politics to "solve" the new problem in an endless cycle of destruction.

These two people were sitting in Starbucks waiting for another person to arrive.
The manager called the police on them and they were taken into custody. Several
articles on the incident here on FR. Here is one...

The person asked to use the bathroom when they hadn’t order anything and were
waiting on the 3rd person to arrive.

Broom closet? Is that a thing? I did think it was funny storing brooms and mops in the toilet. Also thought it was funny washing your hands over the urinal.
