This will never go to trial. This guy has so much shit on so many other special operators, including the CIA, they will quietly drop the case. The discovery he’s entitled to would expose a lot of dirty secrets with the CIA. If the government refuses to turn over the documents based on national security, the government will be forced to drop the charges.

IIRC the Major's court martial either hasn't started yet or is still in progress. If either is correct this announcement can be seen as "undue command influence"...if I'm not mistaken.DJT's best course is,I believe,to let military justice proceed to a conclusion and if there's a conviction he can consider a pardon.

Not that I'm an expert in such matters...but I still have an opinion.

I believe that DJT's best course of action is to carefully look into the issue, and if warranted, issue a pardon before there is any further legal action.

There are many reasons, some being the interest of justice, and some being that it would get all of our troups on his side.

In other words he “took him for a ride’ Chicago style. Surprised BHO didn’t offer the man a position on his staff.

Yes,unless I'm mistaken he has the power to "pardon" a member of the Armed Forces before a court martial has begun and while one is in progress.I've read that the worst thing a President can do is to simply comment on a particular military criminal issue...which,under the UCMJ,can be seen as "undue command influence".Such an act can,as I understand it,work against the accused.

Interesting. Was he in the First Division? ‘Terrible Terry’ Allen was known to utter such admonitions and it was one of a number of things that got him returned to the USA and not getting a third star.

I am not sure. He was very young and joined the troops in Africa and they immediately went over to Italy. He was in Italy for the duration of the war and met my mother there.

If your father was in Italy for most of the war the likelihood is he wasn't in the 1st ID unless he was injured or ill and was held back when that division and the 9th were transferred to the UK to stiffen the Overlord landing force.

He was 17 in 1944 when they were taking anyone. He joined whatever force came over from Africa and marched up the boot, but I do not know which of the groups that went up the boot that he was affiliated with.
