Well, I am disgusted. For me, there is too much groveling on this thread today. And, too much blaming the folks fighting the trolls. The only blame for that mess of a thread yesterday were the trolls and free republic mods. I want to say thank you to the Q’s fighting the trolls. Has Trump taught us nothing? Fight, fight, fight.

Glad it resolved redemptively. I just don't want to see FR go there again. Sometimes the myopia around here seems chronic and of Olympic proportions. Sigh.
I'm with you. Those who come here to harass and criticize, not to participate, are not here in good faith, and deserve to be insulted and chased away, or laughed at and memed at, whatever works to minimize their disruptive efforts. Ignoring works sometimes, but not always with the dedicated ones. Those who criticize US, or suspend our contributors, for attacking trolls are like the people who talk about Trump being unpresidential when he treats back at those who attack him. Those people never mention the vile things said about Trump, just what he said in response. The solution would be easy, and would serve the interests of all. Mods should let us police this place ourselves. When there is an obvious troll, as we had several yesterday, or as we have at the start of every new thread, we should be able to ask them to leave, and have it enforced. After all, we are not allowed to even discuss Q civilly on threads outside of this one, much less attack those who disagree with us.

I can understand the frustration.
However, I view it differently.
I have visited several other sites to obtain Q data and discussion. Over the past few months, (intensifying even more so most recently) we have seen site after site offload and oust their Q participants. One of the most prominent examples of these was Reddit.
We have witnessed how much pressure the board owners of these various sites have been subjected to because of the presence of Q discussions. We have ourselves experienced inordinate attacks from the beginning here in our own Q threads.
The perspective I have is that I cannot even imagine the pressures that our JimRob has been under. Misinformed long time fellow FReepers, along with the paid shills and trolls - not to mention even the possible AI robot trolls, which can be relentless, have done their best to poison our well and divide us from our Board Owner.
In response, Jim Rob has instituted a policy which some have perceived as being “second class citizen” treatment. I view it differently.
The policy hinges on us having the self discipline not to engage negative commentary - no matter how tempting the retort which forms itself in our heads might be. If we don’t feed the trolls, this policy actually PROTECTS and INSULATES us to have our discussions. He has elected, despite those enormous pressures previously mentioned, to allow us to remain on this board. He has not responded to those pressures like the Reddit board owner(s) did and throw up his hands and throw us off.
I, for one, am very thankful for that policy, and am very appreciative that we continue to have a home here on Free Republic. In the climate of today, Jim Rob deserves commendation, and not anger, from us. How would we all feel if we were suddenly homeless, as the people on Reddit experienced? Jim Rob is fielding intense pressures on our behalf, and I hope more of us can ponder that and realize it.
As far as I’m concerned, Jim Rob and this board deserve every little penny I’m able to save up for the purpose of donating to cover the cost of my use of band width - which admittedly can be big! LOL!
