Pete Davidson deleted his Instagram account after he wrote that he doesn't "want to be on this Earth anymore" in a post on Saturday.
"I really don't want to be on this earth anymore. I'm doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don't know how much longer i can last. all i've ever tried to do was help people," Davidson wrote.
An outpouring of support followed the post as "Pete Davidson" and "Pete" trended on Twitter on Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon New York police told The Hollywood Reporter, "We are aware of the post and we are conducting an investigation and welfare check."
The post came hours after Davidson had posted in support of singer Kanye West, who had been tweeting about mental illness. "Bravo Kanye West for standing up for yourself and speaking out against mental health," Davidson wrote. "I can't explain to you enough how difficult and scary it is to be honest about stuff like this. We need people like Kanye. No one should ever point fingers at you for your bravery in speaking about mental health. I'm seriously disgusted."
On Saturday, singer Ariana Grande, who was formerly engaged to Davidson, tweeted an apology that she had joked about West's tweets days earlier. "man im so sorry i told a dumb joke. i really didnt mean any harm. all i want everyone to be healthy and happy. so desperately. please. my god," she wrote.
Grande added in another tweet, "Im downstairs and Im not going anywhere if you need anyone or anything. I know u have everyone u need and thats not me, but im here too."
On Thursday, Grande had joked about Kanye West's feud with singer Drake. West accused Drake on Twitter of making fun of a performer with mental illness. Grande wrote on Thursday, seemingly in response to the feud, "guys, i know there are grown men arguing online rn but miley and i dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y'all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that'd be so sick thank u."
The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to NBC, Universal TV and Lorne Michaels Broadway Video to find out if Davidson is scheduled to be on Saturday Night Live. They have not responded for comment.
The donut licker who dresses like Lolita? Both are no catch.
I don't have a personality disorder because I don't know him.
Mental illness is a requirement on that show FWIH.
You have to wonder how much of this mental unhealthiness that afflicts celebrities is a result of prescription drugs.
Pete Davidson is or was a heavy user of marijuana. I know that fans of that drug think that it’s harmless (or even beneficial), but for many of its users it does cause mental illness including psychosis, depression, etc.

Yes, mental health is a terrible thing and not to be recommended.

That, sir, is a brilliant catch. :-)
... for folks lacking a backbone and nerves of steel since mental health is a leading cause of conservatism.
:-)
It would be good if Crenshaw rwached out to him, but the Nazi press would turn into a negative.
“Who the hell is Pete Davidson and why should I care?”
He’s a comedian on TV who makes a lot of money and gets adulation from fans.
Not that you should care, I agree.
Lol...what a description.
IKR?!!!
ikr whoo (don’t get out much here)
Never heard of Pete, but this whole story sounds like a high school popularity contest.
Oregon wants to require ongoing mental health exams for all middle and high school students, and psychology is SUCH a statistically accurate discipline.
What are the odds that one of the questions Oregon will ask is whether there are any guns in the house, and how are they stored?
“he is suffering from borderline personality disorder. Hope he can get the help that he needs.”
You can’t treat borderline personality disorder. Not in any way that helps, anyway.
Goodbye, Pete. It was pretty nice not knowing who the hell you were.
The curse of SNL.... so many dead performers has passed their gates.
Charles Rocket was one of the most bizarre.
