WTH happened to Home Economics, Wood Shop, Metal Shop and Auto Shop? These were electives when I was in High School. But everyone took at least one. I took them all.

Home Ec was a great way to meet girls.

We had to dumb everything down..and destroy organizations like the Boy Scout.
It was for the good of the body.
Landry is gentle.
Are you not of the body?

Good way to find out which girls could really “cook”.

My college prep track high school offered Auto shop which I took, home ec and ag. I didn’t take those.

At times I regret not doing the other two. Ag offered a lot in terms of welding and metal. However Ag and auto conflicted.

I took metal shop and drafting. I wish I had taken typing instead.

You haven’t been around a high school in a while, have you?

At our high school in the late 70’s to early 80’s, everyone (boys and girls) had to take a “home economics” class - for example, cooking or sewing.

I also took the shop classes. (Maybe those shop classes were dropped because the factories were closing down?)

“WTH happened to Home Economics, Wood Shop, Metal Shop and Auto Shop?“

I suppose they were victims of cost issues, liabilit concerns, college prep focus and lower student interest.
