CBS paid Eliza Dushku $9.5 million after she accused "Bull" star Michael Weatherly of harassment

Eliza Dushku was written off CBS' "Bull" after she confronted Michael Weatherly about his behavior, according to a new report in the New York Times.

The Times said when Dushku appeared on "Bull" last year, there were "well-developed plans" to make her a full-time cast member, but those plans allegedly ended after she came forward with allegations against the show's star.

Dushku played a lawyer alongside Weatherly for just three episodes in Season 1. According to a draft report from lawyers hired by CBS' board to investigate the company's culture and sexual misconduct allegations and reviewed by the Times, Dushku was written off the show within days of confronting Weatherly about behavior that made her uncomfortable. Among the allegations: he told "a rape joke," and said in "front of the cast and crew" that he "would bend her over his leg and spank her."

In another alleged incident on set, Dushku held up three fingers during a scene. She allegedly told investigators, Weatherly suggested she wanted a threesome with him and another male cast member.

After being written off the show, Dushku entered mediation with CBS. According to the Times, that's when a lawyer for CBS handed over outtakes from "Bull" in belief it would help their case, but it allegedly backfired. The Times reports "the outtakes were a goldmine" that actually captured some of the harassment.

...

The network agreed this year to pay Dushku a confidential settlement of $9.5 million, roughly the amount she would have earned as a series regular.

It’s not so much the one piece bathing suit amount of clothing but the “come ravage me” pose.

And of course no Male has ever posed in that fashion . . . the Victorian Age is OVER. Like no wife of any of our prudish posters has ever worn a mini-skirt or bikini! And dared to SMILE while wearing it!

Wow, how slutty. She usually plays the slut role in films.
Snort, and she claims he was the one. Weatherly has been on tv for decades and not one hint of a scandal and this skank comes along with her #MeToo. Bet she’s said much worse to male co-stars. Never liked her on “Bull” and was glad when they dropped her.

Her career may be finished. Hollyweird may not want to touch these MeToo actresses who file suit over something this insignificant. And yes, I’m female and it was insignificant. All she had to do was tell him to shut up and that would have been the end of it - if it were true.

Would you hire her to work with men on a project?

She’s always had freaky dead eyes. Never liked her or her skanky roles.

“She was written off the show because she didn’t want to keep working with Wetherly.”

More likely she was written off the show because the CBS execs didn’t want the conflict between Weatherly and her to persist on the set and become another Moonves saga.

They didn’t settle up for the action. They settled up because the FIRED her for reporting it.

They could have instead taken it seriously, talked to the creep, and told him to fly right or HE would be fired.

You don’t fire people for reporting harassment. The story indicates that the tapes CBS provided showed evidence of the actual harrasment, so it doesn’t seem like it was in dispute at that point.

Yes, she did follow the protocols. She reported it, and they fired her. THEN, she followed their protocols again, entering mediation with the company, and the mediator found they had screwed up and made them pay her what she would have earned, which was exactly what she LOST because of their actions.

Seems like exactly how the process should work, and maybe next time CBS will stop protecting their liberal white guys and take this stuff more seriously.

Why would you interpret this story that way? According to the article, the man made several inappropriate workplace comments (no woman should have to accept inappropraite sex comments from people as part of their job). She went to the proper people about it, and instead of dealing with the issue (all they had to do was talk to the guy and make him stop), they fired her.

THAT is what made this a $10 million dollar payout. Not the things he did, which should have been handled with a simple talking-to, and would likely not have led to any money exchanging hands.

She didn’t get paid for harassment, they didn’t settle a “harassment” complaint.

She pointed out boorish behavior of a co-worker, and was fired for it. THAT is what she got paid for, once the evidence was clear that the harassment happened.

I don’t think people get shamed off the site for stuff like that.

I remember, a long long time ago, making a vanity post about the vulgarity of the comments of “I’d hit that”, when news articles about attractive women were posted.

It drew quite a lot of response. (Later, it became viral when it was taken over by the marauding group running the “undead thread”.

"She usually plays the slut role in films."

I'll take your word for it.

The last Film I saw was Last of the Mohicans. It came out of the <$4 bin this year so I could see the film and test the DVD capabilities of a new [to me] desktop computer. My TV viewing pretty much stopped when Person of Interest ended. NCIS was also on my watch list, but I don't really like the newer cast mix. I never liked Bull and knew/know nothing about this "actor".

I guess then that the pic was a good Ad for her "actor" "brand". Even for doing that it does seem to be a bit over the top and on the sexist side for a portfolio pic in her typecasting category these days. Did she think that widely distributed at her wishes pic might gather unwanted attention at some point? At some point women actively contribute to interactions in Singles Bars, should they attend same. It's a continuum and highly nuanced these days as where the line is drawn now varies widely in all sorts of situations and with different people. HollyWierd could fix the problem by replacing her character(s) with transWomen.

Since when is behavior that makes some snowflake “uncomfortable” actionable?

When you're a rape survivor from a popular movie from the 90s as a minor. Sheesh.

But I guess rape survivors have to put up with someone talking about hurting them again for a laugh, huh?

Oh, and does she walk around with a shirt that says “I AM A RAPE SURVIVOR” so people know not to make jokes around her for the rest of her life?

New show on CBS: “The Ten Million Dollar Skank”

You call her a skank?

Why did you call her a name but not him?

If you were slated to earn 10M next year and you lost that because you wouldn't sleep with the other actor - would you be a skank?
