Well, it should. Security in this Hemisphere has been sadly neglected. Maduro will be lucky to survive the chaos there. The VP is of Syrian descent, a drug dealer, and has been bringing in Hezbollah jhadi types.
POTUS called out this VP and seized his properties in Florida shortly after taking office. Russia and China are cozying up to people in S. America, and all over the world- they are trying to get control of the natural resources pretending to be nice in their sheep’s clothing.
SEC. MATTIS - in a speech before POTUS was elected stated that Russia had been clever in their actions related to the former USSR countries. However, he stated to make no mistake we are at WAR.
So far, our response has been sanctions - financial war is what Russia considers it. We nearly toppled Iran regime with sanctions and cutting them out of SWIFT payment system, but Obama’s deal saved the regime.
Russia has made clear that if we cut them out of SWIFT, that is an act of war, and they will feel entitled to respond militarily.
Meantime, Russia, China, and EuroWeeines are busy figuring out other payment methods in order to avoid USA throwing financial weight around.
Important to note, is that the sanctions hurt Russia enough that USA would have given in, if the shoe was on the other foot-out oligarchs derpers would have seen to it. Putin might just kill his oligarchs if they get too rowdy.
The Russian people have endured many hardships over the last century. They just shrug and feel pride to endure and support Putin. So Putin has survived our financial warfare.
Will we go to battle militarily over the annexation of former USSR territories? I doubt it. Not yet. What will Putin decide to take next?
Anyway, that’s what I decipher from what I’ve read on the International front.
