That is the way I saw it. VP Pence was not there to divert attention from Pres Trump, which would have happened if the media had half a chance. It had to be a challenge not to flicker any expression one way or another. Good on Pence.

I think POTUS either invited Pence to have a balance of 2:2 appearance or it could be the Dems refused to be there without him to broker the exchange.

The one thing Pence brings to the table is having been in DC before he knows how the deep state processes work, so he can help set things up the way POTUS wants and then step back and watch.

Also might be POTUS wants him there to help prep him for post ‘24 activities.

I think I Like Pence for the same reason people are suspicious of him. He keeps his mouth shut and does his job, which is to play second banana and be there in case he’s needed.

My take on Pence at the meeting with Chuck and Nancy. He knows them all to well. Probably there to observe body language.
