I started collecting silver in grade school. I would meet with the school janitors in the lunchroom, when they were counting change, and trade with them.

I had built up a pretty nice collection of silver coins, until one day my mom needed a tank of butane (back in the day before propane), and there went my collection of silver coins.

My grandma, who was one of the most righteous people I've ever known, btw, there's a huge difference between "religious people" and righteous people, prophesied that one day I'd have plenty of gold and silver, and she was right! But what's plenty for me, probably ain't for some. ;)

I sold a LOT of silver dollars and half dollars recently. Most are only worth the silver value (and sentimental value of course).

Ha. Hubby used to collect coins. His brother took a bunch for similar use. I save all my pennies and nickels, the rest of my change goes into a piggy bank to use in emergencies.

I read recently that silver is selling near to the actual cost of production. I figure as soon as China and the rest get all the gold they need for the IMF new SDR, maybe they’ll quit depressing the prices.
