There is something about this that crystalizes the hidden gap between our cultures.
This is the shiboleth to decide whose side you are on and what culture you are from.
How do you pronounce the answer to did we go to the moon?
If you say yes you are of one culture, if you say no you are from another.
This has no take on your intelligence - it’s a take on who you trust and what you believe.
Obviously we went to the moon and if time permits we will do it again.
I usually try to reach people by asking these questions.
1. Can you get to the top of the empire state building.
2. Can you fly in a plane at 35,000 feet?
3. Can rockets take satellites to orbit the earth to enable the gps system for your phone?
4. Then what is so unbelievable about a rocket taking a man to the moon?
But that unscientific line of incremental reasoning is not enough. The barrier between cultures rules the mind.

Exactly. My friend profoundly distrusts pronouncements by various governments.

If we didn't go to the moon it has to be the biggest conspiracy theory ever....consider:
would the Russians have kept quiet if we tried to fake it?
what would be in it for them?

Yes, but didn’t Whoopi see the flag waving in the wind? And the moon has no atmosphere, right? Hm....
But then Sheila Jackson Lee thinks we planted the flag on...Mars...yeah, Mars.

My grandmother, who would be 104 this year, told me 3 things while I was growing up (70s-80s) that I didnt believe then, but I believe now.
1-Rock and Roll music is of the Devil.
2-People are going to be having sex on that TV before long.
3-We never went to the moon. It was faked.
I think she was right on all three. If we ever went to the moon, we would be able too see the glow from all of the Walmarts there.

Research the Van Allen Belt. It will answer all 4 questions you posed.
1. The Empire Sate Building is in our earths atmosphere. AKA within the Van Allen Belt.
2. Planes flying at 35,000 feet are in our earths atmosphere. AKA within the Van Allen Belt.
3. Those satellites circling our planet are technically in our earths atmosphere. AKA within the Van Allen Belt.
4. The Moon is not in our atmosphere and well beyond the Van Allen Belt. During the space race of the 60s no other country (Russia and China) sent any living thing (plant or animal) outside of the Van Allen Belt that didnt come back x-rayed to death. But, we did. Our government would never lie to us either.
