ELO - Eldorado {Complete Version}

The Legend of El Dorado

El Dorado was a mythical city located somewhere in the unexplored interior of South America. El Dorado was allegedly unimaginably rich, with fanciful tales told of gold-paved streets, golden temples and rich mines of gold and silver. Between 1530 and 1650 or so, thousands of Europeans searched the jungles, plains, mountains and rivers of South America for El Dorado, many of them losing their lives in the process. It was never found. El Dorado never existed, except in the fevered imaginations of these seekers.

Or was the treasure of Montezuma the root of an exaggerated story?

Didn’t Spinal Tap do a musical tribute to this where Stonehenge was at risk of being trodden on by an elf?

Yep. All due to the band member putting " instead of ' on the drawing.

There was so much arrogant ignorance in those band members. It’s part of what made it so funny.

Pardon the thread-jack, but the best-ever "El Dorado" was by Nelson Riddle and sung by George Alexander and the Mellomen for the 1966 John Wayne film of the same name. The paintings in the opening credits of the film are fantastic. They were painted by Olaf Wieghorst who actually appeared in two John Wayne movies: McLintock in 1963 and El Dorado in 1967.

Candide found El Dorado, but left it because he was bored, and wanted to find Cunegonde.
