NYC birder Molly Adams, 26, is leading the nations first-ever network of Feminist Bird Clubs to provide a safe opportunity for womxn, LGBTQ, and gender-nonbinary folks to practice bird-watching free from the constraints of the patriarchal world.
Founded in 2016, the first Feminist Bird Club was launched in Manhattan by Molly Adams, who graduated from Stony Brook University with a masters in marine science and who now works for the Wildlife Conservation Society in NYC.
Since the NYC clubs inception, Adams boasts of active chapters in NYC, Chicago, Boston, and Buenos Aires, all of which host monthly or weekly bird-watching treks. (Chapters are also currently being organized in Michigan and the San Francisco Bay Area).
The Feminist Bird Club describes itself as an inclusive bird watching club dedicated to providing a safe opportunity to connect with the natural world ... while working to protect the rights of all womxn, non-binary folks, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Not only that, but members have also successfully fundraised for Planned Parenthood ($300), Black Lives Matter ($4,600), and the New York Abortion Access Fund ($1,000), among a few other nonprofits.
Next year, the club will sell birding patches to benefit another nonprofit, and is currently looking for illustrators to create a new design. PJ Media reached out to Adams to ask why an explicitly feminist approach is necessary for birding, but she declined to respond.
Raising money is just one small thing we can do, but I look forward to seeing how much we can donate to another organization next year, wrote Adams in an October 26 newsletter.
The club recently hosted its most well-attended birding event yet.
I don’t want intersectionality.
I want intern sexuality.
A good place to meet chicks.
Bird brains.
More leftist tribalism. Its what they live for.
As long as they are “safe”. Whatever that means.
on the watch for gay penguins?
I dont want cross species intersectionality. For shame these women!
Intersectionality.
A made up word by made up pseudo-intellects for a made up problem.
That word, and many others (we all know the ones) mark the user as having little or no ability to think, reason, or produce goods of value.
Laugh at the user and walk away. Extended third finger optional.
It’s all they deserve.
But if the bird identifies itself as an iguana or perhaps a leopard, it is still considered ‘bird’ watching?
>>womxn, non-binary folks, and members of the LGBTQ+ community
much simpler if they just come out of the closet and say “anyone who isn’t a white male heterosexual”
LGBTQ+ is not “inclusive”, it is “exclusive”. It outright rejects “heterosexuality”, denies its normal nature status, attacks “breeders”...
It is a hate group. They exhibit religious hatred as well, just look at how they attacked some Jewish homosexuals who wanted to fly a Star of David on their rainbow flag.
Aren’t birds descended from lizards?
"Look, a loon!"
Maybe womxn, LGBTQ, and gender-nonbinary folks can learn something about nature from watching birds.

SUPERB point!! Will they notice that male birds mate with female birds? Or will they declare birds sexist and homophobic?
Does she and her group discriminate against men of color especially muslim men?
Nice try Bill, now get back in bed with your wife!
Sounds more like a dating club that excludes straight men.
Well, duh! Like everybody didn’t know already that birdwatching is a toxic pool of CIS male heterosexist patriarchal behavior. Wake up people!
</ sarcasm>
They look forward to raising money for other groups, how about the Audubon Society or maybe even a wildlife conservation fund?
“Arent birds descended from lizards?”
I’m not seeing the connection between Valerie Jarret and cardinals.
