That seems like an odd stance based on the audience he’s trying to attract.

That's why he's saying it to a German-language magazine 4000 miles of ocean away and not to anybody closer to home who writes in English.

Tucker is going to go on supporting Trump's policies and taking on his critics while having private reservations about the president's personality.

That seems to be pretty common.

Tucker can’t be that clueless. Between the constant onslaught from the media, the democrats and the phony investigation, and the Republicans turning their back on him, he still has accomplished more than anyone else could’ve. Trump is entitled to a bit of bravado. Plus it’s fun watching liberals fume.

Very strange....I’ve never heard him talk like this about Trump on his show. Not like this?

Let me think.. did candidate Trump promise these things in the first two years...No. Has any President ever accomplished more of what he promised in 2 years...No.
OK then.

that was my guess. In the context of it isn’t possible to get everything done he wanted to get done with a treasonous plot against him, a know nothing opposition in the press, and a GOPe that conspires to have him lose.

yeah, sure, then maybe.

How far do you think a person gets by throwing in the towel like you do Tucker? Why not advocate for the only guy who has actually kept any promises instead of helping the folks fighting against him?

Maybe Tucker wants Ann Coulter to visit he show.
Trying to convince her that she has a choir on the Carlson Show waiting to be preached to.
Miss Ann has sounded like a very dissatisfied customer here lately.

Truthful?

President Trump has accomplished a vast majority of his campaign promises. He is not a dictator, and therefore cannot operate in a vacuum. Besides that, he still has 2 more years of his term, and possibly 6 more years. I will be voting for him again. He is the second President in my lifetime that has obeyed the Constitution.

If Tucker actually said this, then he is an idiot.

The truth, as in what Tucker thinks the truth is.

What politician has?

We are honoring a man who said" Read my lips" and then broken his promise, so Trump has a way to go there...

You may be right but I thought Tucker was a brighter man than that.

You too need a BIG history lesson!

First of all, LBJ was ruthless and he had spent a lifetime in politics being RUTHLESS! He was know for it when he was in the Senate and still was as VEEP and president.

Wanna talk about corrupt, evil, ruthless, and CRUDE? That was LBJ in spades! His language was dirtier than what runs in sewers and cesspools! He gave interviews to reports whilst deficating on the john, with his pants around his ankles!

Obama? Hell...he had Pelosi and others do the arm twisting, as any other Dem president would have. Obama was and still is an arrogant, egomanical, self aggrandizing blowhard with effluvia for brains.

Trump made a huge error when he appointed Sessions, has been kept off balance by this Special Prosecutor who should have never been appointed if he had chosen an appropriate Attorney General, had no idea of the depth of the resistance of the entrenched bureaucracy and due to political inexperience has not been able to secure full control of agencies under executive control after two years. The antipathy of McCain prevented the repeal of Obamacare and his inability to control 20-30 Republican House members including Ryan prevented wall construction. Nobody likes the bragging. The relentless hatred in the Media has had a detrimental effect as well. Yet when considering the challenges he faced after Obama, the prospect that the amoral thief Hillary Clinton could have been President and the fact that if not for Trump, the globalists would be dismantling my country, still glad to have voted for him and continue to support him. Greatest fear is that the muddled middle that determines election outcomes in the US may not give him the support he needs to be reelected.

Yeah but Clinton never had the ability to mainline his thoughts into the body politic via Twitter. It’s too much. My opinion.

Trump ... doesn’t know how to twist their arms like Johnson, Obama or some others did to get their way.

I don't think that Obama twisted anyone's arms. He had Dems entirely on his side with both the House and the Senate for the first two years. Then he had a phone and a pen for executive orders for the next six. During that six the media was entirely on his side and the judiciary did not seem to challenge him. Johnson, on the other hand, was a master arm-twister.

Trump also has had to do everything he does under the cloud and threats of the phony Russia investigation.

Trump is a libertarian when it comes useless stoooopid Federal regulations. He has stopped their growth as best he can.

Here’s the transcript of the original interview - pretty accurate:

Yes. I read the whole thing. Tucker Carlson comes across as incredibly arrogant, informed, and foolish.

Here is his full comment about President Trump's promises. It leaves out a huge amount, and minimizes his enormous achievements:

No. His chief promises were that he would build the wall, de-fund planned parenthood, and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn't done any of those things. There are a lot of reasons for that, but since I finished writing the book, I've come to believe that Trump's role is not as a conventional president who promises to get certain things achieved to the Congress and then does. I don't think he's capable. I don't think he's capable of sustained focus. I don't think he understands the system. I don't think the Congress is on his side. I don't think his own agencies support him. He's not going to do that.

After reading the interview, I have both gained and lost respect for Carlson. He sees and knows a great deal. Our analysis of what the information means has some significant differences.
