Tucker Carlson says Trump is ‘not capable’ and hasn’t kept his promises

Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson set straight any misinformation concerning his views on President Trump: “I don’t think he’s capable,” he said during an interview on Tuesday.

Urs Gehriger, an editor at “Die Weltwoche,” the country’s leading German-language opinion weekly, noted that Carlson’s new book, “Ship of Fools,” is silent on Trump but comments on his critics. And so, Gehriger jump-started the conversation by asking what Carlson thought of Trump’s first two years in office.

Carlson said he cannot stand Trump’s self-aggrandizement and boasting. Then, when asked whether Trump has kept his promises, the usually quick-witted and long-winded Carlson had just one word: “No.”

“I get tired of his braggadocio and I think I ultimately hurts his cause..”

I spent 40 years having a short dozen men like Trump (self made entrepreneurs worth 9 figures or more) invest in companies my crew operated. (we were the 5%’ers)

They are not like normal folk, nor are they like the pushy bull dikes, the sackless capons, and and hollow chested men inhabiting DC or the press.

They are warhorses among fat little ponies. Lions among herd animals.

Reasonable men conform to the world and those around them as they are. Unreasonable men seize the day and bend it to their wills......if whiners and criers get in the way, they are brushed aside and become footnotes in the histories of great ages and great men.

All real progress therefore comes from loud, proud, brash unreasonable men like Trump. The rest are just managers of what has been made or won by other men before them.

The tame, docile, and polite people will only be known because they crossed The Donald.

He fights...and less the RINO treachery by others on THE WALL and OBAMASCARE....he has delivered more for Christians, conservatives, and patriots than any President since Reagan who crushed the Soviet Empire.

Tucker Carlson is an entertainer. Not a conservative.

Without a wall, deporting illegals, and stopping more illegals from coming, everything else will eventually mean nothing.

I will gladly vote for Trump again.
I don’t care for his behavior though.
It shouldn’t be too much to ask POTUS to not call washed up porn chicks “horseface” on Twitter.

WP is trying to decapitate Tucker who is one of the most articulate conservatives. His focus on immigration and the threat of China scare the Establishment. I will not accept the WP story without hearing Tucker’s version.

Me too. This does not sound like Tucker. But then, look at the source.

Tucker Carlson always struck me as a careerist, not a man of principle.

His father was president of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Carlson worked for CNN for 6 years and MSNBC for 3 years. He said nothing interesting and his shows were watched by very few people.

Then, in May 2009, Fox News hired Carlson as a News contributor. He appeared on other shows for short segments. He said little that was interesting.

In 2017, after Megyn Kelly left, Carlson was given her 9 pm prime time slot. When O’Reilly was fired Carlson was given the 8 pm slot.

Carlson has been a member of the MSM for almost 20 years. I usually do not watch him. I can’t remember him saying much that was intelligent or inciteful. He repeats the standard MSM viewpoints.

One of the few times when Carlson was good was a recent show when Carlson was talking about Mueller and had Dr. Corsi as a guest.

I never thought Carlson liked president Trump. He is part of the MSM. If he were still on CNN or MSNBC he would be saying what they say. Since he is on Fox he makes it a little more conservative.

I agree with everything you stated. Johnson also got all his legislative agenda enacted.

I don't see him as a liar then. I see him as ignorant. I wanted to make sure I got his quote in context:

"...“His chief promises were that he would build the wall, defund Planned Parenthood and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn’t done any of those things,” Carlson said, adding that those goals were probably lost causes. Trump, he said, doesn’t understand the system, and his own agencies don’t support him. “He knows very little about the legislative process, hasn’t learned anything, hasn’t surrounded himself with people that can get it done, hasn’t done all the things you need to do, so it’s mostly his fault that he hasn’t achieved those things..."

Tucker cherry picked Trump's goals because he hates Trump and chose the ones from the get-go that were going to be the most difficult to achieve. It is ignorant and biased at best, and malicious and stupid at worst. Tucker Carlson thinks that if Trump somehow finds a way to get people who know how to do "all the things you need to do" and becomes less outspoken and combative (nicer to the people who despise him, who turned the full force of government institutions to spy on him and his team and frame him in order to hamstring him and possibly remove him from power) then he is going to accomplish far more.

That is ignorance. Some might call that the language of the swamp.

Those days are long over. There is no "compromise" with the Left, because their view of "compromise" is to do what they want. We have seen how that goes. Our only way forward is to politically force things down their throat, and Trump is the person for just that because he doesn't give a damn if they don't like him. That makes Trump markedly different from every non-democrat who has run for office or held office since the mid-Eighties when the radical left began taking over the levers of power in the Democrat party.

As for the results of the mid-term election, that was standard fare and happens the majority of the time to the party holding the White House. To say that was a referendum on Trump is wrong, and possibly more in line with your last paragraph.

"I don't think he's capable. I don't think he's capable of sustained focus."

That can be read in different ways. Take the first sentence alone it sounds like Carlson is calling Trump incompetent, but read together with the second sentence, the point is that Trump may be competent on a day-to-day basis, but he doesn't have the "sustained focus" to achieve his major goals.

To do everything Trump needs to do he needs 3 things.

1. Time- Losing the House made the time-line longer,
2. USSC- Lock almost a guaranteed 5-4 now, but I don’t trust Roberts, so we need a 6-3 to get a guaranteed 5-4,
3. Federal Courts - Need more appointments! Getting there but even under the best conditions its not a quick process.

2 & 3 most crucial because everything I mean everything he tries to do that will have any meaning will end up challenged in a federal court. There still are enough Clinton & Zero appointees (Even Bush, etc. appointees who have “grown in their position1”- meaning become liberal!) that judge shopping is that hard!

That’s impressive. How many of those 1%’ers are in charge of a country and subject to the whims of the body politic? None? Then we’re really discussing apples and oranges.

The mid terms weren’t a referendum on trump as much as they were on the House GOP.

They did nothing to enact trumps agenda.

Trump hurts his own agenda by 1. Not firing every Obama holdover on day one , 2. Not firing Comey on day one 3. Hiring and keeping staff that are not true trump supporters or support his agenda e.g. Nielsen at dhs, Mattis at defense, his dirtbag chief of staff, etc.

Those are rookie mistakes that have really hurt his effectiveness. Jared and Ivanka have not been overly helpful to the agenda either with their emphasis on democrat programs like child care, equal pay, criminal justice leniency.

WOW, one man alone fighting establishment Republicans AND democrats plus a “special” prosecutor, the media, so-called allies and enemies of our nation, but gee he is just not moving fast enough for Tucker!

Tucker missed his soul-mate he should have hooked up with Ann Coulter years ago.

“....Trump has built zero feet of the Wall, and that is going to be his “Read My lips” moment...”

The GOP has built zero feet. It already is their “..read my lips moment...”has been for 20 years.

And Trump has actually built dozens of miles with the budget he has....

https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/06/us-mexico-border-wall-being-built-slowly/#slide-1

If it takes a civil war or mere constitutional crisis to close the border....Trump is the only man in DC that will do it....who else can that be said of from among the central casting wonk and yak muffins?

“Tax cut: check.

Conservative SC and lower court picks: Check

Erasure of mountains of regulations: Check.

Renegotiate NAFTA: check.

Begin to build the Wall: check.

Move embassy to Jerusalem: check.

Jump start the economy: check.

Establish national self interest as a basis for international relations: check

Called out China on their dishonest trade practices, and brought them to the table for real for the first time: check.

Restored America to a position of strength and international respect. Check.

Now what was it that he was supposed to achieve in two years, that this nerd thinks he fell through on?

BTW, style points are BS so don’t tell me how he doesn’t talk nice.”

In addition:

Defeat ISIS.

End North Korean missile launches.

End terrible Iran deal.

Create jobs and reduce unemployment.

Rebuild the military which had been underfunded and neglected.

Encourage energy production and reduce energy prices

I don’t disagree wholly with your second paragraph, but that is a different aspect.

I understand where you are coming from, I simply disagree with your initial assessment.

That’s all.
