Fortunately, he did not attack the car. We were in a little Toyota Cressida, so that would not have gone well for us. But if we had not started back to the car when we did, the hippo would have been on us before we had a chance to react. We would have never made it to the car, just another statistic. What a fantastic story. It was an almost "Africa wins again" tale.

If a t-rex was strolling around in my neck of the woods, my friends and I could easily take it out with the contents in our closets. I think the same thing.
Any deer rifle will take out a T-Rex, because any deer rifle has plenty of power to smash a T-Rex knee joint. Then they are mostly immobile and you can pepper their central nervous system, lungs and vascular system at your leisure.
It might take them a few hours to die, but they won't be doing much more damage.
A few rounds to the spinal column in the neck should stop the thrashing about.

Mosquitoes. Probably right.
I suppose you could narrow it even further to Plasmodium malariae (human malaria Spirochete).

If you had an amazon robot and bear spray in your garage you wouldnt need your stuff in your closet for a t-Rex.

I have to laugh when the latest franchise in the Jurassic Park movies implies that humans are in trouble now the dinosaurs are loose in the world. If a t-rex was strolling around in my neck of the woods, my friends and I could easily take it out with the contents in our closets. Have you seen the movie Tremors?

Sounds like “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”. They invaded a habitat.

They invaded a habitat. The universe is our habitat.
We are the dominant known species in it.
Scientifically, or Biblically, we have dominion over the Earth and the species in it.
I suppose, theoretically, we "invade" thousands of habitats every day, from roundworms to robins to rhinos.
Other species threaten us at their peril.

I do recall that God appointed us as the stewards of his creation. Is His creation ours to squander?

Is His creation ours to squander? No.
Are we to allow the animals to dominate us?

Yep. If one is that dumb to be near a hippo one should expect to bet attacked. Animals act on instinct and so did this one. I am surprised it didn’t kill her.
To: marktwain
Of course not. That is why we provided land away from towns and villages for such beasts to have free range. Out of the kindness and respect Christ has shown for creation, we allow them a measure of safety from thoughtless people. She was exacting a thrill from close proximity to the hippo, without any respect for the power and disposition.
It is called "stewardship", and God expects that of us.

Other species threaten us at their peril. Yeah, just exactly like the buffalo did. Oh, hippos and rhinos are now "endangered species" just because of attitudes like yours. God truly expects us to manage His Creation intelligently, on His behalf. Proper management does include understanding and respecting the characteristics of the "managed beasts".
Your attitude is borne of arrogance and selfishness, which endanger critters but also lead to war between people. Thank you so much for contributing to the good of all.
