I don’t know what you mean by “attachment parenting” leading to bullying. We did attachment parenting — and lots of breastfeeding for the older son (the one who wasn’t adopted)-— and our kids were both independent and respectful.
Read the article. He accompanied her all the way.
Fondly remember the fun we had...
Driving an additional 20 miles a day for a week to help make a point that could change her life for the better?
That's called being a parent.
Worth every mile as a labor of love.
I live in Western NY....
I walk five miles per day and it takes me 1:20 to do it. So, a 10-year-old is going to walk about 2.5 mph for a two-hour walk. It's not like Dad was going to be able to go to work that day anyway, so Dad should have been walking with her and talking to/with her about her behavior and the consequences thereof.
I have a 10-year-old son and can understand Dad's position on making her walk, but I won't make my kid do anything I'm not prepared to do myself.
You got that right! Exact-a-mundo!
“When I was a kid, it was 10 miles, uphill, both ways, in snow 8 inches deep (all year) ... and we were lucky to have FEET to walk on”
When I was a kid I literally walked uphill both ways to school. There was a large gully between my house and the school. :)
The video I saw on F&F this morning it appears as if the father is following behind her very slowly in his car.
Fine and dandy if all dad is interested in is administering punishment. But instilling discipline is a better idea, to my mind, and harder than heck to do from behind the wheel of the car.
Yer KILLIN’ me over here... :^) Haha!
In first grade my friend and I missed the school bus because we were sidetracked by picking up the most beautiful horse chestnuts. Dad called the town cop and had him drive us to school in the police car. (Small town. One cop. Friend of Dad’s.) First grade ... we were terrified. It never happened again!
See - a bully - like father like daughter /s
They don’t make bullies like they used to. The bullies on my bus were big guys who had failed several grades and came from dysfunctional families. You didn’t dare wear a hat because it would be snatched off and thrown around the bus. And they always had their little sidekicks who went along with them to avoid getting bullied themselves.
I remember one incident where a black guy got on the bus and one of the bullies had his leg propped across the aisle totally blocking the way. The guy came to the leg and pulled a long knife out of his pocket, opened the blade and put it blade down across the offending leg, stepped over and proceeded down the aisle unmolested.
... Uphill, both ways!
OH well thank you for correcting me!
Hahaha
You gonna be okay?
I think that driving very slowly, following a walking person, is a danger to everyone around, especially if the driver is using a cell phone as this one was.
It would have been much better if he had bundled up and walked along with her at a vigorous pace.
When I see stories like this I think to myself, ‘how the hell am I reading about crap like this?’ Then I remember it’s 2018 and the Dad himself put it social media, and some 24 hour news cycle outlet desperate for any old gunk disseminated it.
