I didn't mean that, I just wondered why the default is to keywords when titles seems to work much better.

Also, several posters have searched, found nothing and start to post - all at the same time. The speediest poster’s thread is followed by the slowpokes.

Notice how sometimes duplicate threads are just seconds apart.

I’ve seen that too. Sometimes it seems like people sit on one site hitting refresh, refresh, refresh, until something new pops up, then they run here and post it.

Step 1: Read the title of the article.

Step 2: Comment on the title without reading the actual article.

Step 3: Deal with getting yelled at for only commenting on the title.

Repeat

OMG! You should look up old radio recordings of the Phil Hendrie Show in the mid ‘90s.
He’d start a show with a guest (Who he plays with a slight vocal distortion), bring up something outrageous, and reel in the outraged callers.
I remember one, “Guest,” who was suing the National Weather Service because as he was providing a ritual burial of his Mother’s ashes, a gust of wind blew the ashes all over his...ummmm.... private parts.

FR search has always been ... uh ... not the best.

I usually go to google, and after typing in the keywords, enter “site:freerepublic.com” [no quotes, no spaces]. That limits the search to the specified website.

Example Google search box: [1raider1 site:freerepublic.com]

The above would search for “1raider1” on “freerepublic.com”.
