Watched the entire video the other day. Wondered why the lion didnt make mincemeat out of one or two hyenas. Seems that might have convinced the rest to back off. Would committing to a fulll attack leave his hindquarters at risk? Tire him out faster?

He was probably a liberal that didn’t believe in the death penalty

Yes, the big guy kept his hind quarters to the ground as much as possible. Hyenas have an extremely powerful bite. One of them could have easily broken one of his hind legs if he had tried to take the time to kill one of the hyenas. Big cats kill either by a strong bite breaking the neck or crushing the Adams Apple. Hyenas have a powerfully built neck, it would have taken the cat a long time to kill a hyena like that. The other method big cats kill is by suffocation, clamping down on their preys nose and mouth and that would have taken too much time, exposing his hind legs to a bone crushing bite and he would have been finished off quick. It's touching to see how both of the big cats were nuzzling each other, happy to be alive. That ‘’Tatu’’ saved Red's life for sure.
