Jalen Hurts returns the favor to lead Alabama to SEC Title
In the end, a committee of the establishment, by the establishment and for the establishment arrived at the safe and predictable decision establishmentarians tend to make. Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame were easy calls. Then it got hard. And when it got hard, the College Football Playoff selection committee chose 12-1 Oklahoma for its fourth and final spot, over 11-2 Georgia. It was the far less controversial choice, for the following reasons: * It allowed a third Power Five conference room at the feed trough, as opposed to keeping the majority of the five out.

Money making scheme.
Oh one more thing about an 8 team tournament. There would need to be rules setup BEFORE the season on who plays who in the tournament.
For example. If you’re one of the 3 selected teams They play the best record teams from the conference finalist. Worst record plays best record. NO strength of schedule bullcrap. Just worst plays best. If tied then use a formula like the NFL does to determine the better team. Like points over same team wins. Or how long it’s been since they lost. But make it math based and not some money making committee selecting who plays who.
I like college football but only having 4 teams and that by a committee is a joke.
8 would be enough, after that there always will be some teams with severe deficiencies. 8 gets you to the standard tourney bracket, yet with exclusivitivy
A one-loss ream over a two-loss team. If Georgia has any complaints, they should reflect on the LSU game. Ohio State has just as good a case to make as Oklahoma. Yes a blow-out loss to an unranked Purdue is ... inexplicable. But one loss is one loss.
NO. Play football, then prove you’re a student. Heavy sarcasm intended.
4 teams is a disingenuous concept when you can leave out Conference winners from the “Big 5” (That in and of itself is stupid at 4 teams) in favor of 2 SEC teams (Did not happen this year for a change).
8 is the sweet spot; all Big 5 (Do the math, duh) conference winners will be represented, highly ranked teams that did not win, Notre Dame (If they are undefeated for the year), and teams like UCF will get in.
How in the world do they leave out the NDSU Bison every year :) appears they are headed for FCS natty championship for the past 7 out of 8 years.....
we want bama, we want bama LOL
Call it the CC
COMMITTEE CHAMPIONSHIP
Oklahoma avenged their only loss.
Clemson is going to destroy the Irish.
I think they should have the opening game of the college football season be the FBS vs the FCS champion.
Tell that to Alabama... who got in despite losing perviously.
“Notre Dame should not be in it this year either. “
Oh for crying out loud. They’re UNDEFEATED.
“They didnt win this week...so they should be out.”
They didn’t lose. Ever.
It’s an FR thing.
Do you even care?
Clemson cannot be blamed for the ACC being weak this season. FSU, Miami, Va Tech... all off this year.
Yeah.
/seriousness on
one or two play in games (with up 4 bubble teams) could easily be added in to settle these annual disputes, on a neutral field with a ten day to two week preparation time, for the teams involved, broadcast networks and fans travelling, while still retaining a scheduled 3 game championship tournament.
/seriousness off
