Why? So they can have an extended season so that more football players don't get their diplomas because they're all wrapped up in football instead of their studies?
We need more uneducated football players living on the streets in San Francisco and Los Angeles just so you can watch more football games?

Okay how about this:
Anybody who wants to play college football goes to school for no more than 5 years and graduates. THEN they're eligible to play while they're in grad/law/med school.
