FULL TITLE: ‘I love you, too’: George H.W. Bush's final words to his son just before the 41st president peacefully passed away aged 94 surrounded by family in Houston

A longtime friend of George Herbert Walker Bush has painted a peaceful picture of the 41st president's final days on earth before he passed away aged 94 surrounded by family at his home in Houston, Texas.

James A Baker III, both Bush's friend and former secretary of state, told the New York Times that the 94-year-old had been fading over the last week - spending most of his time sleeping, not eating and never getting out of bed.

Baker said that although the former president had defied death multiple times over the years - struggling with a form of Parkinson's and being hospitalized with pneumonia several times in recent months - this time felt different.

Baker stopped by the Bush home on Friday to check on his old friend - or perhaps to say goodbye.

He said as soon as he entered the room, Bush perked up, asking: 'Where are we going, Bake?'

Baker answered: 'We’re going to heaven.'

'That’s where I want to go,' Bush replied.

Within 13 hours, the 94-year-old was on his way.

Friends and family flocked to Bush's bedside on Friday evening as it became clear that the end was near.

His final conversation was a speaker phone call with his son, George W. Bush, who praised him as a 'wonderful dad' and told him that he loved him.

'I love you, too,' the father said - his last words on earth.

He served!

Yeah, well Hitler served too. Was a pretty good infantryman in WWI. Doesn't make him a hero.

“Sounds like after Barbara passed away, he pretty much was ready to go.”

The exact opposite for my family. When my dad died, Mom started living. That was in 2008. Ten years later Mom is enjoying life at age 94.

It’s sort of sad that DM has better coverage than our own media...

Nevertheless, thanks for posting. My feelings toward HW are mixed, but the family surely has my family’s prayers at this time.

Bitter? For what? You live in the greatest country in the world, with an economy that is the envy of the world... You live in the best time in human history to be alive, in the greatest country in the world.

For what? It's exactly because we are the greatest country in the world, and we are about to throw it all away.

Yet you grumble behind the anonymity of your computer monitor how “bitter” you are.

You sit behind the anonymity of your computer and it is you who is oblivious to the great gift we were given and to the great gift we are about to squander.

Conservatism is about optimism and action, not whiny complaining. Why don’t we leave that to the snowflakes and SJWs.

Part of taking "action" is to voice concern. Why you mistake that for "whiny complaining" is your problem.

And Conservatism isn't about unconditional optimism. Ask Ronald Reagan.

Reading the responses to this thread just remind me of the pettiness and bitterness so many people hold. A man has died, and yet some just can’t contain their desire to take nasty parting shots at him, his family, friends, or whoever was in his orbit. Its pretty pathetic to be honest.

Bush Sr. caused a great deal of misery, pain, grief and death to a lot of people...because cronyism, family connections, crypto-elitism and Reagan coattails.

So you can stop typing like a preachy, moralistic, apologist bitch and just STFU.

‘I love you, too’: George H.W. Bush's final words to his son

Those are always good words, and especially so when they are the last words a man will ever speak.

Pettiness and bitterness? Are you kidding me?! Maybe some of us aren’t stupid sheeple. The whole Bush family is EVIL! Just as EVIL as the Clintons! Maybe some of us have a hard time witnessing stupid people worshiping these people like heroes, using military service like some kind of race card. Just because he served in the military it erases decades of EVIL deeds? HIS FATHER WAS FUNDING HITLER HOW MANY OF OUR MILITARY DIED BECAUSE OF HIM!!?? THEIR FAMILY FORTUNE WAS BUILT ON IT!

Do a search, it’s not hard. The truth is there.

https://youtu.be/a4jrv71ZfgA

Does serving in the military erase the damage G.H.W. Bush did as a pedophile blackmailer? Look up ‘The Franklin Cover Up”.

How about his part in assassinating JFJ? Is that ok with you? Does military service erase a person’s deep state involvement assassinating a President?!

There is sooooo much more the sheeple are ignorant about. In the meantime I have to keep a barf bag handy to get through this farce.

Me neither.

First of all, the Internet is both good and bad. It informs us but it also isolates and divides us.

One thing that bound us together as a people was our faith in a deity. Not all Americans are believers yet it set the tone, the environment for communication. And it gave us hope. My question for atheists: we can try drive a belief in God out of America but should we.

Another thing that all Americans had in common was that we were Americans and proud of it. We could be Left, Right, up or down but we were all Americans. There has an effort to destroy patriotism.

Bring back these two important foundations of our culture and the first will follow. We will learn to talk with each other again.

Agreed, lots of miserable freepers, and there seem to be more and more by the day.

Clearly, you're happy with our country being at the tipping point.

Demographics, voter fraud, a corrupt powerful DOJ and FBI, and big crony media and tech companies on the TV and on the internet, all favoring "more and more by the day", a big restrictive corrupt government.

Be merry.

Cheers.
