I have three Feists (similar to Jack Russells) and they are hard on mice outside but inside there are too many places to hide. They are learning to stalk them like a cat though. LOL
I thought this was a political analogy but was too dumb to figure it out. Like Peter Sellers in Being There.
I would try essential oils they hate. In a condo we were renting, they would slip out of an overhead enormous light fixture in the bathroom. I was terrified of them or filled with hatred of them, I cant tell which, and had small children so I didnt want poison. There are some herbs they hate the smell of. If you know their point of entry, blanket it and other surrounding points of entry with a smell they cant stand. I remember it was a smell that was quite pleasant (to us). We never saw them again.
You asked earlier about finding a 10 gallon bucket. I was in our local Ace Hardware today. They have lots of white 10 gallon buckets for sale. With lids. Ace logo on the side. Filling a 10 gallon 1/3 full of water makes for a pretty heavy bucket. Less tipovers unless you get a big @ss raccoon. Hubby wound up putting a heavy iron fireplace wood grate over the top. Squirrels and smaller can get through and do. Friends from Belarus who were here for 3 weeks this summer called it a “protein trap”.
